Ok folks some of you may know my situation while most of you are probably saying...who gives a ^&*$...well ok then lets move on to my point...I went and purchased the Behringer V-Amp 2 and let me tell you I am floored...and I just basically went thru the first 16 Amp models, of the possible 32, plus when you throw in the 15 speaker simulations you definately have tone up the ying yang...then there's the multitude of effects...so I'm kind of overwhelmed. So I guess what I'm trying to say then is, if there is anyone out there who wants to purchase a simulator but doesn't know what to get, then I suggest the V-Amp 2. For about 100-125 US, I got the V-Amp 2, a 24 bit simulator, power supply, foot switch and a handsome carrying bag, for those unexpected gigs. This unit more than satisfies, it boosts creativity, something I've always wanted. Of course I realize there are better products out there, but as an introductory product for those who aren't technical wizards, nor properly versed in the use of these gadgets, the V-Amp 2 is a reasonable risk, that pays off in triples! I'm a happy camper!

Oh BTW if anyone knows how to use this thing, I'd be more than happy to listen to a few pointers! Later!

Raz...first thing is...I happen to care......

Next, I know a guy who got his son one of those units for his B-day. Kid was stoked man...but, he had a hard time with it and asked for some help....So, I go there to help dude out. Man, that is a cool little unit. I had a ball with that thing. Anyway, I basically showed the kid what sounds good and what doesn't and I helped him dial in a sound that he liked. I have been looking for my "tone" for quite some time. I found it a week and a half ago. I bought a Line 6 Vetta II....got rid of my Marshall and pedal train and got that amp and WHAMMO!!! Got the tone I was after.....I love the Vetta. I was so close with my Marshall, then heard the Vetta and realized what I needed. Enough on my rambling about me.

Boosts creativity....you are 100% right in that statement. I always felt I could vastly improve in my ability as a player. Now, I can't put my axe down because I have a sound that I absolutely love and it makes me play that much more. OC can tell ya....I am looking to go to the next level in my playing. OC had a lot to do with helping me find what I was looking for.

If it helps you play more....then you found a 10 kt diamond......no matter what anyone says, if it makes you happy, run with it.....

Oh yeah...did I say I cared......... :D

Thanks, and everyone here has really helped...I mean I wanted to get the LINE 6 Pod XT, but I think this is a great way to start...man if you look at the steps I have taken since buying my EBMM SUB1, you'd think I was a nut...in the month or so since buying my EBMM, I have gone up a string lvl..., adjusted my truss rod, lowered the action (next step is intonation) and got a simulator...lets not forget my quest for PUPS...again some might say that this is small potatoes, but for me its huge...afterall I've been playing guitar for around 20 years on and off(more off though) and I have never touched my guitar as far as tech stuff goes...and I was always a pedal pusher...Thus, I have two major influences to thank...one being a beautifully made and awe inspiring instrument and secondly the wonderful and humble members of this board...thanks, I just wished this could have happened years ago...

Hey Raz, is there a pedal board available for the v-amp? I eventually got the Line6 one that goes with the pod and flextone amps so I can switch between presets and add or subtract effects.

Also, are you using it as a pre amp in front of your previous amp, or through headphones, or what.

Glad to hear it's worked out. I mentioned in my post to your question re amps that it compared favorably (and less mula too) to pods in reviews I've read, and I love the pod.

For me, I was a drummer for many years.....then I got into a military career/gov't job....so I quit playing drums after a Neil Peart clinic....long story.

Anyhow, I picked up guitar and took lessons from one dude who completely messed me up. Tried to make me Yngwie overnight, so I put the guitar in it's case and let it sit for years.

Then, I met my new boss who can really rip on guitar....Dude has opened up for Ace Frehley, Yngwie, Quiet Riot, Kansas and many others. So, he can play. Well, he told me he would show me some stuff and low and behold....there is hope for me yet... :D I don't have an ear for guitar, but I enjoy the challenge of it. So, I play/practice as much as I can because like most, I want to be half way decent.
So keep at it.

Humble. Yes, this is by far the best guitar/product board I have been on. Many peeps on here will help you out and have no problems doing it. I have had many long talks with OC on many subjects and he is what I like to call my "tech sensei"....OC you da man! THERE ARE NO EGOS HERE.....and there could be with the talent that is posting on this board! :D

I even had the privilege of meeting Kbaim out in Cali and got to sit down and jam with him......AWESOME. Dude needs to put that one tuen he played for me on a CD and make some $$$$.....still get the chills when I think of it.....

I will hopefully get to sit down with OC soon and listen to him.....talent is only the tip of the iceberg with him....(dude can seriously play) and would love to sit in with a bunch of others on this board.

So, you have come a long way in a short period which is great and it is cool of you to acknowledge the help you found here. It will continue and I am sure you will pass on your knowledge to those in need.

Yes I believe any board will work with the V Amp...and thanks for the help Keith...as far as my output..I'm still green so I'm connecting the V Amp to my Marshall via the headphones output...i have yet to try it with headphones...probably tonight...I can't wait to get this thing rolling...I'm really excited...

and thanks OC for all your help...I promise to keep an open mind and if I feel this unit doesn't cut it then the POD will be my next purchase...

Koogie,

Your playing FAR EXCEEDS the # of years you've been at it. I know a natural when I hear one. You've got a good ear, great timing, interesting licks, and above all a tremendous capacity to absorb and try different approaches.

And I really appreciate the kind words on my song...I've written a bunch of others too, though. :D Email me an address and I can send you some samples, including DREAMING.
Many thanks,
KEITH

Raz,

I think you can just go guitar to v-amp input, v-amp output to amp INPUT.

On my pod there also a switch to toggle depending on if your going in to an amp, or going direct (or into a PA).

Go through the manual for tips on how to set your amp (not the Behringer) to get the best results when using the v-amp in front of it.

and I'm not sure if any floorboard would work, or if Behrenger makes one (i'm guessing they do). Also, if it's like my line6 board, it works with my amps too.

Of course you'll have to get more equipment ;)

Yeah thanks I directed the output from the left or right output instead of the headphones and it sounds cool...I'm starting to go thru the 125 different presets...I'm wondering now if I should try and get a pure sound from this baby...any reccommendations on a method, like a preamp and stuff...I'm new to this...thanks!

I agree, I just spent 2 hours playing thru only about 1/2 of the 125 presets...starting at one and moving up...its way cool, you go from a rock riff, then you find this jazzy tone that takes you away, then a nice sweet bluesy sound, flipped into a metal cruncher, swept into a soft echoing strum, thrown back 40 years into a fuzz infested wah revival, reawakened with more metal twists, only this time it has a British tone...man I could go on and on...my only regret...that I wasn't recording my experience...this thing has brought tears to my eyes, joy to my soul, fire in my veins, and pleasantries to me old eardrums...I can't remember the last time 125.00 smackers gave me such a thrill...well she was kinda skanky but that's another tale!

My suggestion is to go thru the presets like your doing, find the several you like best, then start tweaking those a bit manually to see if you can get tones you like even better.

Tweaking tone controls and cabinet models can have huge impact if it's anything like a POD

I have the Vamp II, great unit, like someone else said it might be the best overall, my only gripe is the delay while switching presets with the foot pedal so for live it wouldnt work for me, but I use it to record direct and it sounds great -

Hi,

I have both the V-Amp2 and A Flextone. The V-Amp is great. I would highly recommend joining the V-Amp group on Yahoo. They have heaps of great tutorials as well as patches you can download and load direct into the V-Amp if you have MIDI access. I also have the Behringer FCB1010 floorboard which is a great addition to look at. Enjoy the unit it's a big learning curve but well worth the time.
