I've heard about these easily-bent Bongo knobs quite a bit on this forum lately.

I don't think it's any easier to bend than any other pot. It can be bent. So can any other piece of metal. I suspect it's always the volume control that gets bent simply because that's the one that is the most exposed, so if the bass does take a hit it's the volume control that gets it.

Let's not let this blow up into something it's not, please. I've already gotten enough grief for mentioning it in the first place. There is nothing wrong with the pot. If something happens, CS will take care of you.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone here ever had a pot bend that WASN'T a bongo volume control? Mine was the first time I've ever seen such a thing.

Sort of funny if you read those two quotes side by side :)

Ah, I'm just joking.

But yes, please don't turn this into a big deal. I'm not trying to figure out *why* the knob bent. Far as I'm concerned, it was my fault. I just wanted advice on *what* to do with it.

I've emailed Jon and I'm sure with his help I can get it all straight again, problem solved. Yeah, I should have contacted CS before starting this thread. Sorry.

Thanks, EB Customer Service!

Got the knob all straight again. Just left it on the bass and bent it carefully (what Jon said to do) and it straightened out.

Customer Service rocks!

Sure, emg solid shafts for instance. Otoh, if you bump a split shaft only one half will bend, and the knob will fall off (or at least come loose). And then, bending it back involves placing a screw driver between the halves, which sometimes snaps one half off.

It's as BP told me when I broke mine. Bongo is like the gentle beast, you have to treat it nicely. And the stingray is like the beast you can kick around and it won't break for nothing.
