I didn't notice the bent knob until a week later. I went back to those first pics and...yep. It was bent when I took them.
Now, it's POSSIBLE that I put the bass on its face during the five minutes or so before I took the pic. I was so excited I don't remember every single move I made. But I don't think so...and even if I did, I would have had it in the case...and I certainly wouldn't have put any weight on it!
As BP pointed out in the other thread, the bass certainly isn't designed to be dropped on its face. True, of course, and it shoudn't be. But given that there are several of us who have reported this same thing, I submit that it's something for owners to be cautious about. None of my other basses has ever had this sort of thing happen, and I'm pretty sure every one has fallen over at some point in the many years I've been playing.
Someone in the other thread speculated that the foam that holds the bass securely in the case is tight enough to bend the knob as the bass shifts back and forth. I'm not so sure, but I've taken to padding the end of the headstock with the polishing cloth to keep the bass from moving, just in case.
Call me AR, but I'd REALLY rather not have to replace the pot if I don't have to. And if I have to bend the shaft again, I have a feeling it'll snap...I've already had to bend it twice.
As far as I'm concerned, provided you get the pot straight and take reasonable care, it's a non-issue.

That hasn't been a problem/factor here...knock on wood.Jazzbassman23 said:Interesting. My Bongo has never fallen over or taken any kind of spill. On the other hand, I kind of like the way it's off kilter. A feature, me thinks.
Did you fall over while being shot (photographed) on the lawn...and who's lawn were you on?Steve Dude Barr said:I bent my knob once....
