I was looking at the other thread about today's music being "forgetable" and it seemed fitting to start a thread on what bands or artists people are liking from todays current choices. I guess I'm thinking of artists that have come to light in the last few years....or the last decade.

I'm always looking to buy new music or discover new artists that fit my tastes (which are varied), so if you care to....throw something out there.

I'll start:

Silversun Pickups - my favorite contemporary band

Gabe Dixon's latest album One Spark is a belter, not very guitar based, but well written music and good catchy song.

Black Stone Cherry, Bullet for my Valentine, Foxy Shazam, and Airbourne are a few of the newer bands I have been listening to lately.

When it comes down to it, I would suggest that we choose 'fav bands' when there is a performer in the band we can look up to or truly enjoy... bass players will always have a fav because of the player in the band and same for true shreaders...

As the front man trying to bring a truly memorable experience to my audience, I would like to submit TRAIN as my favorite band. I like the stuff I hear on top 40 radio, however, when you have time to catch a live performance it is anything but average pop. Outstanding band with a outstanding performances.

If not live - catch a taped performance on cable.

The artist i most enjoy listening to is John Frusciante, his music style is constantly changing from acoustic rock, to progressive synth pop. If your not familiar with the name, you would be with his first band. He's an incredible musician and arguably the best guitar player of my generation. Give a listen to the Epyrean or any of his solo stuff.
