Best Buy taking on GC ?

Old Guy - you are spot on! Sad (especially about the cocooning) but quite true. I wonder though, if you learn to play at home by yourself, will you develop the listening skills it takes to play in a group setting.

Maybe Best Buy will display the real instruments next to the plastic ones (without any strings) that plug into the gaming platforms. Guitar Hero - I hear it's fun, but I don't get it.

I only support this because I can recall about 9yrs ago my parents bought me my first guitar. It was a cheap yamaha starter guitar from cosco of all places, but it was something affordable and accessible. REAL musicians who want REAL product know where the REAL places are. tbone, you should definitely try out Guitar Hero! It honestly helps loads with coordination and fingering.....plus you can rock out with a stingray and after you pass a few songs you get sponsored by EB!

I guess I should be happy since we're getting a BB at some point this year, and the nearest GC is a 2-hour drive. It might give a little more variety to the instruments available here (we've basically got the Fender store and the Gibson store), but I still just don't know about it. Photos look better than what I expected (of course it looks like we'd have the Fender store, the Gibson store and teh Fender and Gibson store ). Guess I'll just have to see. (Not like our BB will have it anyway.)

I don't mind BB selling guitars (I won't be buying any there unless they pick up the EBMM line). I think the sheer size of those stores will make it very hard to keep the frets from sprouting though. Unless they have a really good system to regulate humidity in the 'store within a store'.

But at least it appears that they are selling instruments that are playable. Not like the kind you see in Toys R Us and Target.

Hmmm, this could change things. I can get BB gift certificates through my hotel frequent stay program. I could pick up some nice ummm cough ummm basses for less . Not quoting any names at this time. Its just mere speculation cough, cough.
