That sounds like an interesting setup :) This would be my first compressor, so the cali looks a bit scary haha I've heard good things about the mxr, bt had fled it out for previously for being so transparent. What do you think guys, would something like the diamond fatten up the b7k?

You should make up your mind dude :p
No seriously just visit a musicstore and try some stuff out. A good compressor helps make your sound good but if i where you i would get a new amp first... no?

I use the EBS Multicomp with my Bongo. I had the Markbass Compressore before, a great comp but too complicated for me, too easy to dial in poor settings. It always gave me a feeling of "sounds good, but I still need to twist more knobs to be satisfied" and ended up not really satisfied for a long time.

The EBS is very easy to use and does the trick just as good. The Compressore thickens the sound a little bit, I liked that. I run the EBS in MB mode and that really brings out the tone of the bass as in making the higher frequencies nicely audible in the mix. I like that a lot.

What's a compressor? ;)

Aren't we bass players? What do we need compressors for?

Seriously, give me a 3 string Stingray and I'm very happy.

Totally agree! Its great altough i have to be carefull using the gain controll. It really boosts the level of your signal.

I have just purchased an EBS Multicomp and I was amazed at the performance of this little beast.Previously I was using a MXR87 which I wasn't impressed with at all as it tended to change my tone for the worse. The EBS really does change the tone of your bass for good if you need it, whereas the MXR just basically evens out the volume but it does have a higher ratio setting of 20:1 compared to the EBS which has a maximum ratio setting of 5:1. But it was the extra tonal functions that you get with the EBS that makes your bass come to life. I use the Multiband setting the most but both the Standard and Tubeism settings are also very good. You also have the option of adjusting the trim threshold levels of both the treble and Bass which are located inside the EBS on the PCB. Factory settings are both set at 12:00 but I have changed mine and left the Bass at 12:00 and trimmed the treble to 15:00 and it sounds great with my Stingray 4.I also have a Precision and Jazz bass and it has totally transformed the tone of both of these. My signal chain is.....EB Stingray>>>Boss TU-3 Tuner>>>EBS Multicomp>>>Sansamp Para Driver>>>Tech21 Leeds>>>Tech21 VT Bass Deluxe>>>MXR Smartgate.
Just a word of warning before you buy make sure you get the latest version of EBS as the earlier versions are tempremental.

I use the multiband compressor built into my T.C. Electronic RH750 head, and I really like it. I also love the Teletronix/UA LA-2A compressor and it's many plugin emulations for bass.
