Best EBMM Dealers in Washington D.C. Metro Area

I am about to pull the trigger on a BFR JP6 and was wondering about some of the dealers in my local area.

Any particularly good words to say about your experiences with any of them?

Also, what would be considered a typical negotiated price for one of these right now? I see that $2799 is a common price point. How much better than that can one be expected to do?

Hello and welcome.

I'm in Northern VA and have found that Chuck Levins and the Guitar Center in Rockville both have a good stock of EBMM's. I've always like the guys at Chuck's. I'll point you to a recent thread that discusses the CG in Rockville: http://www.ernieball.com/forums/music-man-guitars/30920-guitar-center-report-looking-good.html You'll notice that somebody on that thread had a bad experience with the GC. I was just at this GC and I do remember them having at least one BFR JP6 -- maybe a ruby colored body. Can't remember for sure.

If you don't like the BFR's at Chuck's and GC, you may want to put a post on the Want To Buy thread. There are several authorized dealers on this forum that have great feedback from other forum members. That's what I eventually did since I couldn't find what I wanted in stock (anywhere) and knew I'd be placing a custom order. I'll send you a PM with the name of the member I bought from and a link to his site. I know he has some BFR's.

If I were in the market for a BFR I would check out both Chuck Levin's and the Guitar Center in Rockville. They are 10 minutes drive from each other. I have bought guitars from both stores and have never had a problem although my preference is to deal with Chucks if they have what I want simply because Chucks gives you their lowest price upfront while GC requires some annoying haggling to get down to the same price. Being a few miles from Chucks they have to match or they would go out of business so don't take no for an answer

My suggestion is to go to Chucks first and then look at GC.

One more thing if you have never been to Chucks before. The store is like an iceberg; the guitar they have on show are just a small fraction of the one they have in stock. They have an amazing basement underneath the store which is filled with thousands of guitars. We you go in talk to a salesperson and they will bring up all the BFRs they have in stock for you to try. One nice thing about this arrangement is that the majority of their guitars are never on demo and often you will be the first person to actually try a guitar they had in the basement. I've been dealing with Paul Schein for close to 20 years and he is a straightforward guy: tell him that Philip sent you. If he isn't there Brian Meader is a good guy too. At the Rockville GC talk to Rachel who is also very straightforward and low pressure.

In addition to Chucks and the Rockville GC, the GC in Glen Burnie up Baltimore way also had two BFR JP6s in stock
