The neck of the Big Al 5 is the same as the Sterling 5. I do not feel that big of a difference between the the Bongo 5 and the Al, besides the Bongo feels slightly wider and flatter. No big deal...
There be the answer I seek-eted (is that a word?)!
Reason I'm interested in the Al is simply for the three single-coils and the resultant tone. Chuck's in Wheaton has an Al H...might sneak out for a long lunch and go try the neck. Failing that...*sigh* another Bongo!

I've been playing my Bongo for so long that I forgot how unbelievably smooth the feel of a bare wood EBMM neck is. I picked up a black/black/rosewood SR5HH from GC (pics tonight!) and can't wait to get home from work and plug it in!

It's funny that you say that because, after playing a couple dozen lately, I'm convinced if I get another EBMM bass in my lifetime it will have to have the finished neck that the Classic has. Different strokes.
