So they started doing trans white around 1990, but didn't officially name it until around 1993. Until it was officially named "Trans White", it was referred to as "Mary Kaye White".
My understanding is that, back then, some new finishes would come out under "special" until it was decided to continue to offer that finish or not.
Trans White "Mary Kaye" commenced c. 1990 but was not officially designated "Trans White" until c. Apl 1993. So, I presume all Trans White Basses up to that point would have been "special" finishes.
I think it was discontinued 1994.
