My fellow knuckleheads,

I'm posting this to remind us all what a cool place this is, it's inspired by the car crash thread that was JP Proto really close...

As a former member of the PRS forum, and a member of the "G" forum - beleive me guys we wanna treat this place with respect and post accordingly.

I'm not doing this to kiss a$$ or even to get a free guitar (altough if you insist....) , I'm doing this for self preservation! - other forums I've been too are like the day room in "one flew over the cuckoo's nest" - this place is cool, where else can you say I was chatting to Sterling Ball and Steve Lukather on the internet last night.... NOT MANY!

There are so many things we get here that are way over and above what a regular guitar company should put out to its customers.
Torture, pics, protos, open house and texas, star features, stories, titbits, etc. - Let's face it - some of the stuff you get here was /is just never published elsewhere.

I have no doubts that EBMM would still sell a sh!tload of guitars every year, and we'd still buy 'em if the forum wasn't here.... so...please, please, please post with respect, we get more info here than I have ever seen and I've been playing and collecting for over 15 years.

Smellybum out

Admin: - If you feel my comments will cause trouble please delete - my intention is simply to highlight the "extra mile" that this forum goes for it's members and we should treat it with care and respect.

Smelly ol son you are right in what you say.

We are very privileged to have been shown this Proto and also to "chat" with the likes of Luke, Sterling, Vinnie and Steve Morse.

I'm sure Sterling felt hacked off about the thread which is a shame because he will be very reluctant to do this kind of thing again.

In all honesty, the thread was bound to get opinions from both sides of the fence and the "coldness" of the written word can often mask what the person is really trying to say - and often the person has demonstrated a passion for balls in the past.

I love this forum and the interaction it has between members - let's just remember our manners in somebody elses house, especially when they show you their "new baby".

I'm in full agreement with you guys here. I think that these threads can really polarise opinion and it ends up getting a bit personal.

I do feel that by getting the chance to view the prototypes we are really honoured and I for one really enjoy seeing them.

Keep up the good work EBMM dudes and let's all cool our jets for a bit eh?

Having opposite point of view is cool, we can debate on it, but please, do it with respect, internet is an intention amplificator, an alleviating sentence can take enormous proportions. We are very lucky to have this forum, Big Poppa and all the staff do all that they can for us, simple forumites, and for endorsers. Do you see some other brand's prototypes on their forums? I really love EBMM, for what? For all of that.

I agree. We need to protect this little community. EBMM gives us so much. In addition to what's been already said. Just look at the Dallas Birthday Bash, the Open House. Without this place and BP's generosity, none of us would have gone to the Open House, and no one will be going to Dallas for a big party on EBMM's tab.

its called respect boys and girls, and in the Jp sneek peek thread ,.... unfortunatly some guys lost a little here, in my eyes and in the eyes of other forumites and in the eyes of the Staff of EBMM, no butt kissing on my end i dont need anything from anyone i can afford my own guitars and i can fly myself to wherever i need to be, so there is no point in A$$ kissing as i dont need or want anything from anyone i just enjoy learning about the guitars and company that makes em!

Indeed, after spending the last 15 years on the internet in some fashion or another, I've got to inform those who may not be aware, that this is a very, very special place. Most forums plain suck, or are so filled with garbage and morons that they're pointless. Don't turn this into another one.

I couldn't agree more. This site is the best thing going on the net as far as guitars are concerned. All the great things that go on here and all the comraderie is what it is all about. Not to mention the fact that we at this site are lucky enough to chat with the owner, chat with the designer, chat with the artists, get to see prototypes and get invited to bashes that are financially supported by said owner? What more could you ask for? As far as the other thread is concerned, "Opinions are like @$$holes, everyone has one and most of them stink!" Keep up the good work BP and the rest of the crew! You guys ROCK!

Agreed. I tuned out of fhat JP thread after the first "critique" of the instrument since that was not the intent of BP's post. I sincerely appreciate the owner of the company showing us what his team has been up to, and this is the best guitar forum on the net.

Heres the deal. I ve been accused of pandering and being here as a cheap maketing tool.
The truth Is that I actually love the guitars and am lucky to get to create them. Part of that passion is sharing. THe reality is that we dont need to pander we have been backordered since 1984. I have never had a problem selling Music man Instruments.

Im going to repeat a few things...The most agressive posters are the most sensitive recipients.

Some people are used to not having people bite back, especially when dead wrong. On
company owned forums they are used to corporate speak. I have no patience for that.

Things like the JP thread brings people out of the woodwork. Im not sure that it is possible to reason with some of them and I know that I cant make them happy and they are going to bash us no matter what. It might not be their choice whether to continue posting here.

I feel bad for Paul Warren, he really does a good jop for JP and that stuff was soooooo bad there.

Guess what we are still going to post stuff. Im going to hang around. We are also not going to give airtime for someone to beat their opinion into the ground...You get one maybe two opportunities and then like it or not they will be deleted. The JP thread was never about your opinion, it was just a sneak peek.

I talked to JP and he said that the saddest part about rabid fans is that they can be exremely mean and intolerant for creative change. He said DT doesnt read forums when making or releasing new CD's The fans can be just too brutal.

From my experience some of my favorite albums are ones by my favorite artists that I initially didnt get and kept listening to and finally got. Same with cars. How many times have I said I like the old style better.

Yeah. DT has had a lot of experience with that. I think Mike Portnoy does actually go and read his forum for a day or two after a new release to see what people think. After that, I think he leaves it alone.

Unfortunately some people just lack respect they are so blinded by their own opinions that they have a hard time taking other people's point of view. It is much easier to say or state things when you are not there in person. I have read some of the posts at the JP forum and realize why JP does not post there very often, I can't blame him at all. I am glad that BP can just take them for what they are and keep going. I would hate to loose this forum.

I agree with the fact that we need to respect this forum, and treat it accordingly. I have only been a member on this forum for a few days, and I can already see how amazing it is. I just feel honored to actually have seen the JP proto where most people have no idea that JP is even planning on upgrading his guitar.

Ernie Ball is a great company, and stays true to the people who follow them. This forum is an amazing place for someone like me who is a fan of guitar (ernie balls in particular) and a huge fan of John Petrucci and Dream Theater. We need to keep it an amazing place.

I missed the car crash, glad I did. I saw some of the early posts to the JP proto thread and I just thought it was really awesome that JP signed in and posted. That's too damn cool and I hope to see more of that. I also think it's awesome that Sterling shares these proto shots with us. I personally did not really care for the new JP proto but who cares, not everyone is going to like the same thing. All I can say is keep up the good work Big Poppa and guys/gals at EBMM.

It's very unfortunate how people do not know what they have until it is too late, and it has been removed from them...then and only then do they start to realize how good that situation really was. The world is a cruel place, and that is something we need to accept, but it doesn't have to show through here. I applaud Big Poppa for having the balls to come here and post. I know he does it (or I think I know) because he's probably excited, and loves what he does. Who wouldn't...but BP also has a certain level of tolerance that, when pushed, he can turn into that person who doesn't want to be playful, that person who has every right to say 'screw you' buddy this is my house. Trust me I know. Why would anybody want to show disrespect in such a setting is beyond me. I have said this before, and I will say it again, and this goes for EVERY PRODUCT, not only guitars...there is no other company like EBMM, no other company. I had to say it twice because there are a lot of stubborn fools out there. I wish that television, or automotive companies would have a forum, showcasing their prototypes, talking with us, just as if they were a friend. But nobody does it, not that I know of...only EBMM does it (I won't even go into the party, or the offer for a forum custom guitar, which we blew BTW).

So in closing people, think of other people's feelings before posting, sometimes not saying anything is better. So fine, you don't like something, keep it to yourself, posting it will not make you out to be the forum hero you seek to be...NOT HERE ANYWAY. It will just, undoubtedly and unfortunately shut this place down. Perhaps for some though, that may indeed be their motive. If this is the case true forum members, who hold true to EBMM will seek you out and expose you.

Let's unite and keep this place as simple and as enjoyable as possible. Look, I'm not looking to kiss butt, nor ask others to do so either...what I am suggesting is, to re-think posts or comments that may offend.
