Afternoon all.

Well I'm pleased to say this is my first post on this forum, but I am sad to say its for a rather sad reason.

I am looking to sell my Petrucci BFR.
My dilemma is that I am not really sure where the best place would be to sell such an item.
Obviously listing it on here would be a good start, but I was just wondering if guitars do actually sell on here or if the forsale threads go weeks/months with being unanswered?

Don't really want to sell it as its such a beautiful guitar. :(

Kind regards,

Chris.

Hi Chris,
welcome to the forums!
The reason why the for sale thread doesn't contain anwers is that we're supposed to inquire via PM in order to keep the thread tidy and clean.
Problem concerning listing your guitar here is that you have to be a member of the board for some time and have to have a minimum number of posts before beeing allowed to list an instrument.
But why not stick around here? Very nice and knowledgable folks around here!
Cheers,
Mikey

My experience tells me that this is the best place to sell your Balls. I've experienced honesty and integrity every time that I've bought/sold. Welcome aboard !

Hi Chris, and welcome to the forum!

Unfortunately, you'll not be able to sell you guitar here for a little while yet. Here is why (it's a slightly longer version of what I PM people when I have to delete their ads)...

We want new members to be around a while so that we (the forum members) can get to know you. In fact, somewhere in the rules it suggests at least one month but in general we want you to have an absolute minimum of 25 posts and, most importantly of all, you must be "a contributing member of good standing" in the forum community.

The rules were put in place out of necessity. There were many problems in the past with bad deals and rip-offs and as a result the forum members asked for these rules. Being the official company forum, EBMM (and the moderators) take them very seriously. We hope that all of our newer members respect them too.

The rules work in everybody's favour. They encourage participation in the forum community and discourages people who are only here to sell their gear. Most importantly of all, when people get to know you and trust you, you will be MUCH more likely to make a successful sale or trade here.

Many of us who have been here for a few years know each other pretty well. We know who to trust, who keeps their guitars in good shape, etc. Guitars are regularly sold and traded across the entire planet here with very few problems since we put the rules in place. It's lovely when all works well and we like to keep it that way.

Chris, if you need to sell you guitar urgently, I'm sorry but it's not gonna be here. But I do hope that you stick around and participate in the forum. When you feel you qualify as a "contributing member of good standing", (and not merely racked up 25 posts to sell your guitar), you will be more than welcome to post in the For Sale thread. If in doubt, feel free to contact me, or any of the moderators before hand.

On some forums, Chris's first post would qualify as a advert of sorts and it would be summarily deleted without notice. We try not to be quite so harsh here and (if the other mods are in agreement) I thought this thread could serve as useful notice and reminder to those who have not read the forum rules.

Thankyou all for a warm welcome. :)

The above info was thoroughly appreciated. Totally understand about the trust thing, especially when the main topic of interest is something of considerable value.

I wish I new about this forum a long time ago.
I'm at work at the moment so I think ill have a little browse around the site....... :)

After little to no response to some of my listings here (and extreme low baller's), I listed on ebay and have one to go. Just my experience. I have done trades here and sold a few in recent years with no regrets and always a good experience with other knuckleheads. I just have personal health issues where we need the $$ quickly and I will probably not be around to enjoy any axes in the coming months. Good luck to you.

Hey, u talkin to me? NY
My heart goes out to you and your family Bob! I can't even imagine what you're going through right now. Cancer is a bitch!

The two EBMM guitars that I got from you within the last few years will be in my family for years to come and one day for my daughter to enjoy.

Thanks BP, but not much anything anyone can do. Diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, stage IV with liver and lymph node metastases in early Dec. I can't work (aerospace engineer for LM and on disability. Been through 4 chemo sessions (1 today) and doing ok, but long term is grim. I've sold off most everything so my family would not have deal with it. I've lost 35lbs and pretty weak. Picking up a guitar case is even tough. Praying and hoping for the best in the future. I'll stick around here and keep current with the intention to buy EBMM again when I am able to enjoy my hobby. Things are not dire here. I have a great friends and family (wife and two late-teenage daughters - you knuckleheads included) that are taking care of the house and helping with meals, etc.... I thank you for your concern.

Thanks all. The well wishes are much appreciated. I had no intention of hijacking this thread, just to express my recent luck in selling due to a sad reason.

Hey Bob, I know we don't know each other as well as some of the others here, but I wanted to chime in a bit. My wife was diagnosed with cancer 2 years ago, at the age of 26. She was also pregnant. She started having neck pains and was told that it was all part of being pregnant. Turns out, she had a tumor in her neck and it was lymphoma. The tumor had grown to the point where it was severing her spinal cord. We were told she had a 3% chance of making it out of surgery alive, and if she did, she was going to be quadrapalegic. She beat the 'odds' and recovered from the surgery with no impairment. Shortly after, she had begun getting chemo. She was diagnosed with stage IV lymphoma and was again given very low odds. I don't remember the exact percentage, but it was for sure less than 30%. Eventually the lymphoma spread to her brain and her chance was set at 6%. After 1.5 years (a long time I know) she went into complete remission and beat stage IV lymphoma and brain cancer.

While I can completely understand that these are two very different types of disease, I can only hope her story can imbue strength and hope that you can be cured and enjoy the rest of your life, despite facing odds against your favor. Keep it in your head that when 9/10 have a rough go, there's one guy that didn't and there's every reason to believe you are that person. Ultimately, she caught an ultra rare fungal infection and put her into a coma, of which she passed away from. She would have had to have her face removed to remove the fungus as there was absolutely no medicine to treat it. How or where she caught it, I don't know. But that doesn't change the fact that she beat the odds given to her with the cancer.

Don't let the doctors or anyone tell you you're just a percentage. You can beat this and if you stay positive against a mountain of negativity, you will only be better for it. There are no statistics for hope. Be strong and I will keep you in my thoughts.
Bob has been a great, humble inspiration through all of this.Phantom, your story makes me count my blessings and kiss my children. You guys are both incredible inspirations.

phantomzer, thanks for well wishes. We are staying positive and all of the great energy from all those we meet and communicate with it is very uplifting. It is amazing what the power of positive can do. Thanks again. Bob
