Okay, campers...the fact that EBMM not only has a forum but actually pays attention to what goes on here (unlike some companies) gives us an opportunity.

We know that there will be Ball Family Reserve instruments. Naturally, exactly what gets produced is entirely up to the Ball family, which is as it should be.

But methinks we, those who enthusiastically part with our hard-earned dollars and who are ultimately responsible for BP's killer Hawaiian shirt collection, should at least put a bug in his ear about what we want to see. He's been known to listen to us from time to time (no doubt in moments of weakness, insanity or inebriation).

So this thread is all about our fondest BFR wishes. Just what do you want to see?

I respectfully request that we try to keep this sane and realistic. No Mr. Horsepower Bongos, please. No Stingrays with a Bongo preamp. No basses made of unobtanium...you get the idea. Your wish should fit in with the company image and philosophy. Try to come up with something that might actually see the light of day.

To kick things off, here's my BFR dream, only with 5 strings and a piezo (and maybe a single pickup):

I am debt-free and it will take a LOT to change that. I challenge BP to put me back in hock. The glove has been thrown down!

If this beauty will ever be offered to the public - as BFR maybe- please let me know. I'll be there...

I am partial to 34" scale basses with 24 frets. I don't think EBMM does this

Okay, I'm an idiot

I'm always so focused on the SR that I completely forgot about the Bongos. A million apologies! Double

Sadly, I don't think it will.

Simply because that exact finish, body wood, neck etc. wound up getting used for the 30th SR (introduced after this pic was taken...we didn't know it at the time). Doing a Bongo like that would not seem fitting, methinks.

Darn it. I SO want one of those.

I would ask for a Sterling with a big body like the Stingray.

....which would make it something other than a Sterling, no?

A Stingling, perhaps? A Steray?

By definition, BFRs are whatever the Ball family wants them to be, but I suspect that they're going to be upmarket editions of existing instruments, not new instruments.

Having said that, the BFR SR5 does not have the same body contours as the regular SR5...so anything's possible.

That was actually where my idea came from, the 20th SR5 with the neck joint like the Sterling.
Or i could have said, a Stingray with a neck joint like the Sterlings have, 1.5 nut, and a 3 way switch for the pup.

That's in response to "adouglas".

We are just bust filling the last of the Dargie's the first of the Anniv sr5's and rounding into form with the LE 2007's......Dreaming of 2008LE's

As long as we are all dreaming: A 34" scale (24 fret) SR with 2 pups and a Sterling-like select switch. (I'm not a huge blend knob guy.) :D

adouglas: Hope I didn't embarass myself yet again!
