The battle of the bands was crazy! People LOVE Renegade... they were jumping up and down, singing along... and Youth Gone Wild... they sang along deafeningly... There were 1300 tickets sold so it was a pretty great turnout for a relatively small town. Apparently we won unanimously on the judges side, and had a vast majority of the crowd vote, despite many people leaving after they heard and voted their local favorite. The second place band was a group of younger guys... mostly high school kids. They were really good. They were right up front cheering for us... They'll get to play the VIP party so they were still pretty excited. It was fun getting to know all the bands... except for one band that my old band once played a BOB with a few years ago. They accused us of cheating because a couple of us were going to the college that hosted it. Well, yesterday after we won, I heard him griping saying, "That was the most rigged show I've ever seen in my life!!!" Before the show his dauther, (the drummer) saw Amber and said to her "Oh there's Amy Lee... who do you think you are???..." These guys crack me up. lol

Anyway... the BFR turned some heads... lol

We will open for REO Speedwagon in August. I'll be having flashbacks of jumping on the bed singing along and air guitaring to "Don't Let Him Go" from when I was 4. LOL I wish Gary was still in the band (although Dave Amato is a wonderful musician) so I could get my Hi Infidelity record (yes record... I even remember being at K Mart when my Dad bought it. lol) signed.

It was funny, the guitar player of the second place band was up there right before we went on talking to us with the rest of his band, and he leaned over to one of his band mates and said "I just figured it out... he's a Petrucci fan." The other guy said, "How do you know?" He said "because that's the guitar John used to play, and that's the guitar he plays now..." I said, "notice which one is the backup. LOL" The other guy pointed to the Ibby and said "it's sure a beautiful guitar... and the guitar player said... well look at that..." The guy turned to me and looked and went... "Oh wow!"

Yeah, the amethyst is too pretty for words.

At least I can tell in the pics I'm losing a bit of weight... still a long ways to go though. LOL

Was it your BFR that was turning some heads or your singer? LOL. Kidding aside, you guys look like you were having some fun! You have a sweet rig from the looks of it. Keep rocking!
