I posted this in the teaser pics thread, but it's long lost so I figured I'd ask here (as I'm sure others are curious too). :D

I know the neck is finished, which I have no trouble with really (certainly won't stop me from buying one), but if one were to sand it ever so slightly just to knock the shine off a bit (say with 0000 steel wool or emory paper) would it void the warranty?

Thanks guys. :)

I would say yes, but someone from customer service would have to give you the final answer on that.

I don't really get this... Sanding the neck in such a way would create a satin like finish yes... but every satin finished neck I've ever had was buffed to a gloss in less than 3 months by my hand anyway.

Sure, I love the EB waxed neck too, but removing layers of finish would not apporximate that feeling anyway, and it would stull buff back to a gloss pretty quick anyway.

Oh and Pete (or Nick), where's my quote you bastards?  :D

I highly encourage you to test the limits of Pete's new cell battery by bombarding him with questions pertaining to your quote request. If that doesn't work, I'm sure Keith, Norm, Phatty, among others would appreciate your call asking to speak with Pete :D .

They're probably too busy drinking right now :p

Unlike some members of my family, I have the pleasure of running multiple businesses while other members are off gallavanting at oh, I don't know... a Steve Morse concert or something.

A new BFR JP-F1 Question

I had my local dealer call about the BFR JP-F1 and they said this:

The color you choose dictates the top. i.e.

Bahama Blueburst and Ruby Burst will only be available with a flame top
Blackburst and Walnut Burst will only be available with a quilt top.

is this true? Man, I was sooo hoping for a quilted Bahama Blueburst. If that's not an option, then I guess I'll consider a Blue Dawn LE... or maybe the BFR Walnut burst..

<*head explodes*>

Removing layers of finish would absolutely void your warranty

Hrm.

Well I wouldn't be removing LAYERS of finish (that sounds pretty destructive), just taking some of the shine off, if that makes any sense.

I mean how much damage can you do with 0000 steel wool? :)

Either way, wouldn't stop me from buying one. It was just a question.

Thanks for the answers BP and Jon. :)

That doesn't sound right to me. Once again, someone from customer service( or the employee of the month BP) will clear up any questions about tops etc.

Thanks, Jon. I don't mean to be overly eager or anything. If there IS any truth to what I was told by my local dealer, I still have the option of the beautiful walnut burst over a quilt, so there's no real down side. I was just hyped up to see the JP6-F1 in Bahama Blueburst.

It can wait until someone in the know can find time to answer. My usual contact person at the local music store is also at NAMM, and he's the one who normally contacts EBMM for quotes.

Jeffrey there are about 20 coarts at least on the necks and "sanding down" would be thinning the finish.....

Isn't the guitar in the fourth pic here a quilted Ruby Burst JP6 F-1?
