IN five years someone will post this and Marty will be in the corner stuck in a fetal posititon sucking his thumb with the worst case of sellers remorse on record.

Or...another way to look at it is that someone else will have bought it and then have a guitar that is everything they'd ever dreamed of and more.

Marty get what completly makes you happy or else you'll lead a life of regrets. Find a EBMM guitar w/ this ones playability and the killer top you desire. It might take some waiting but why compromise?

I would like everyone’s honest opinion on this top. I am thinking of turning this one back and waiting for more bfr’s to come out so I have a better selection. I am just not sure about this top. I am used to a straight flame. I am not sure that I like this top with its “curly” frame for lack of a better description. Also I took pics showing a kind of vertical waviness in the grain which I am not too fond of

Please let me hear your opinions.

The guitar plays like a dream, the neck is silky smooth, and the guitar has a nice balance and weight to it. I think earlier descriptions I got of the sound were spot on. It’s a Luke alright, but there is a little more clarity to it, and separation of notes.

Look at the pic I took of the upper left top of the body. See those little cloudy circles, esp, by the fretboard. They look like airbubbles or something in the finish.

Here’s the pics:

No offense but I'm a little surprised, to say the least, that anyone would have anything negative to say about that top. That's a 5A flame if there ever was one. I'd LOVE to have that top. I mean, did you really just by a BFR just to post that you're not sure you like the flame (that happens to be as good as it will ever get anywhere)?

I am so drooling over that top. Dude, you've GOT to keep it! If that top doesn't do anything for you, then go with an opaque color, don't look back, and never look at another figured top again.

But you'd be nuts if you do. :D

Dude you gotto be kidding. I am not a straight flame fanatics but I find this to be the perfect top for a bfr luke. Nevertheless, some honest words here - if you dont like it, sell it off and check out others on sale (websites..) ;)

The bottomline is, you gotto be real happy with your investment, like what I did. :D

USA, for now, but a Brit at heart
Thanks

I want to thank everyone who responded to my post.
Where else but here could you have the opportunity to interact like this and get good feedback.
Before this post, I knew essentially nothing about fancy figured tops. The purpose of this post was to gather info and get an education. It served its purpose. With everyones feedback, and a little internet research on my own, I now know quite alot about figured maple tops.
I want to thank BP and the crew at EBMM for being so helpful.

I especially want to thank Scott for convincing me to buy this guitar in the first place.

EBMM is the only guitar co. that gives us the opportunity to have such close interaction with them. Both the Forum and CS are GREAT! Beside they make great guitars and have great quality control. You won't get any shlock stock from EBMM like you will from the Gibsons, et al of the world. And if there happens to be a problem, however rare, EBMM is quick and responsive and will bend over backwards to resolve any issues.

I love my LUKE! :)
