There I was, planning my next purchase, no less than a Sterling 5, when.......out of the blue I get a call from the friendly guy at the music store who casually states "I've got something here that might interest you, it's a two pickup Stingray, fancy top, some kind of special edition". Surely not a redwood BFR, I'm thinking to myself...were any of these sent to Australia?
So I race down to the store and sure enough, that's exactly what I find, gorgeous HH BFR redwood stripey top. And indeed it is a fine thing to behold in the flesh. And then I picked it up, and then I plugged it in. I played it for ages.
Beautifully balanced, quite light for a Stingray and resonant like no other I've played. And the sound was spot on. First time I'd ever given the HH format a decent workout. I could play anything, any style, anywhere with this thing. And that top....wow. In fact the whole build is flawless, of course.
I could even take it home for a few days on trial if I want. But it's expensive. I have no doubt it's worth every cent, I'd just need to consider whether it's really worth that much to me. Nevertheless, anyone who gets this will be happy.
