Woww awesome option! :D

After reading this I quickly mailed with the shop (who then contacted CS) to upgrade my order so I guess there's a BFR Pet with Rosewood neck coming my way :D

Gotta love EB customer service!

it's a veneer (not sure the thickness but seeings that it's called a cap I'm assuming it's a nice thickness) anywho, rather than having the grain look the way it does with the way that the neck blank is cut (I'm assuming) they then laminate a separate 'prettier' grain that is one piece onto the face of headstock to not only make it look great but I do believe that the lamination might add a little more strength/rigidity to the headstock.

I would like to know a bit more about this "Rosewood Cap". Is it some form of rocket science that adds to the neck's strength...or is it just to improve the chick magnet quality of the guitar?

OK I am about two phone calls away from cancelling this. WE are being swamped with people wanting to cancel their existing orders for instruments or wanting us to swap necks on old guitars.

We didnt offer this to hurt the workers in the factory.

Its simple if you can find it in your budget o buy one of these, great. If not we fully understand but to cancel an order that is in production is not going to work for us.

Well on a more serious note, I have a Silhouette (pre-rosewood neck announcement) on order that I am SUPER pumped about

AND

Now I'm thinking about an Albert Lee MM90 w/ rosewood neck. HMMM what color shall I choose.

I have been on this since the first Axis Rosewoods came out, so this really makes my day/year/whatever. I've emailed lots of unsuspecting folks at EBMM, I begged and pleaded, and I think I even threatened my rep with the dreaded Vincent Black Shadow or something equally gonzo. If I had the dough I'd get an Albert and a Silo Special, but reality dictates only one. I'm looking forward to a fun weekend figuring out my order for Monday.
Sure nice to know they're listening...-Eric

Well I love the idea, and I think it is very simple as BP metioned. As we all know the CS is the most amazing and they are so flexible, but just because we have the privilege of hearing about these special pieces first does not give us the right to be demanding more. I've been on this forum for quite some time now (every day), and we've seen some amazing new unique things created and offered. For some reason, people think this is a custom shop and just because the CS is amazing that they can go ahead and take advantage of that. Everyone has their preferences, but we do not run the company and do not decide what should and should not be made. I mean, just look at how many thousands of options we have seen that followed the 20th Anniversary Silhouette...on TOP of the thousands of options and combinations of colors, woods, and LE colors.

On that note, I have a Silo Special that I love, but I am willing to let that one go in order to get one of these really cool rosewood neck Silo Specials as they are offered by EBMM.

Now I think I have a legitimate question that does not side track from this awesome option. How is the stability of the rosewood as a one piece neck compared to maple? Is it more susceptible to warping due to climate change? From what I believe, rosewood is a much softer wood than maple no?

I won't be getting, but I'm rather curious as to this:

Will the neck remain unfinished, or will it have some sort of coat to prevent it from getting gunky and gross like all of my rosewood fretboards after a week of playing?

off topic: Big Poppa what is happening in your avatar, are you being attacked by some mechanical tool? Any chance of seing the real pic in full size? I am curious cause it makes me laugh every time I see it.
cheers

p.s.: back on topic: rosewood necks look mighty pretty: well done.
