Ahhhh. I spoke out of turn, then. Knowing how crazy you are about figured necks (in a "takes one to know one" kinda way), I ass-umed. =)

Haha! Sure!
Well, it's more like ...if the ad already says "highly figured", I'll not accept anything else... ;)

(BTW, I've never heard of figured mahogany like we know it from maple). Shots of the back of that bass would be nice...

I'm not usually into fancy tops, but OMG that is BEAUTIFUL!

If I ever see a Sterling that looks like that, I'll be the first in line!

There is a good story on these tops....they come from over 1,000 year old redwood tree stumps...for 100 years it has been illegal to pull the stumps and mill them...there is a family that goes deep into the redwoods and somehow pulls these giant stumps and mills them. They are very limited and rare.
the beauty is spectacular.

Man BP, I love the tops! I love the fact that you brought back the body binding too! Will you be doing that with other colored finishes on the BFR basses? I would love one in blue or purple!

So that leaves the sterling next RIGHT.

I would love to see something "SPECIAL" in a sterling soon. That would be a deal breaker even a Sterling 5 would be awsome.

Work on it

this family "somehow" gets the redwood? Makes me wonder if these might end up being more limited than intended. Any hints on the price?

Now begins the wait to find out who got their orders in at NAMM for the rays. I am anxiously awaiting what is in store for the BFR's for the Sterling as well. Maybe that blonde beauty we saw a glimpse of before? ;)

I can't even describe to all of you how beautiful these tops are in person, and a really good story behind it all too. Another positive thing about the harvesting of these stumps is that it's finally clearing out all the hippees who used to live in them out of the forests in the Pacific NW and back into the working world. :D ;)

Music Man really outdid themselves on this one, BRAVO!!!

Are these the same tree-hugging hippees that sit around playing acoustic guitars...wooden acoustic guitars?

;)

and just because everyone's enjoying the new BFR SR so much......

(sorry for the 'lo-fi' pics but at least you get a feel for how nuts the grain is, and take a close look at the mahogany for the neck!!!)
