that was a cool story, i love hearing about stuff like this, all the goings on in the history of EB + MM.

You know BP you should rly write a book about the history of the company, and just fill it with little stories like this. I know myself and a few other knuckleheads from around here would buy it plus im sure many others

Its just that it seems like there are so many great little stories and as a history buff i'd love to see how they all fit together to create the company with us today.

I'm not a writer nor do I play one on TV, but I keep a file with all the interesting little tidbits and history and whatnot. It's far from being a complete view of BP (that would take a made-for-TV miniseries - like "Lonesome Dove" but without so much dust and no horses) but I think of it as a foundation from which someone (probably not me) could build.

Obviously, I think a detailed account of Ernie Ball and then Music Man would be not only a worthwhile endeavour but of interest to the music industry in general. Here, we tend to focus on Life Since Music Man, but Ernie Ball, the man and the company, changed rock and roll long before the Save The Stingray Project came along.

If there is a real writer out there who wants to take on the real work, I would certainly volunteer to take the time to follow BP around with a tape recorder for a few days, talk to Dudley, Dan, Scotty, and of course we'd have to track down Ed Roman. Okay, not Ed Roman. And someone would have to pitch it to one of the music publishing houses; Backbeat Books comes immediately to mind ("American Basses" and many more).

I suppose BP would have to agree to such a thing. I don't think he's disagreeable, mind you; we've talked about it before. But saying "Yeah, sure, sounds like fun" late at night on the phone is far different from saying, "Okay, come follow me around for a week or two."

Any real writers out there?

It was pre-Open House. Maybe now that you've gotten to know me better.....

But regarding the prostate, doesn't it depend on who's doing the checking?

I believe that wood is maple, which is used to make the 'tops' of the Luke and Petrucci BFR guitars announced at NAMM.

(It's also used for the Axis, Axis SS, Morse Y2D, 20th Anniversary Silhouette, and 20th Anniversary StingRay5.)

If I would ever need to use the "Call a Friend" lifeline on Who wants to be a Millionare....Dan's cell phone would be ringing off the hook. He truely has a wealth of knowledge on subjects far and wide.....quite amazing. My first day starting work here at EB/MM(November 27th, 2001) I came across one of the coolest things I had ever seen......A man....a Lab coat....and a pair of Red converse shoes!!! Great combo. But what really impresses me about Dan is his willingness to talk/debate and converse with anybody on any subject.....as I said earlier Dan has a wealth of knowledge and the best thing about it is he is ALWAYS willing to share and pass on any of it that he can, a true gift!!! I try to become sponge like whenever Dan or Sterling is around....just sit back and absorb. You will always walk away with something!!!

Hey Kevin. Ask Dan if maybe he would someday join us for a Q&A?

I know exactly what you mean about just soaking it up.

I'm a sponge too! I look at it this way; Wayne C. Henderson makes a few guitars a year, in a dusty one room shop. He is a master of what he does and will never live long enough to meet his orders for fine crafted guitars.

Now look at BP’s operation, he has a team of Wayne C’s, I consider every bass to come out of EBMM to be a custom shop quality bass. I think any of the big name endorsers of EBMM could walk in to a store and pull an EBMM off the wall, do a personal preference setup and rock the walls down!

You don’t get this level of quality without some great people doing master level work; I would love to hear their entire story’s, Dan’s is certainly one.

BP, write the book, I’ll give an advance…. Ok, so the advance is a case of paper and all the ink cartridges you need, but please do it Sterling. Make it a big coffee table thing with huge pictures and all the inside poop. I’ll buy the first 10 copies!

Hell, you could do a series “And Then Came Dudley”, “The Bongo Files”, “The Dargie Delight Chronicles”… BP what I’m saying is, put this story down on paper, it’s too great of story to leave to recollections, you are the living history, make sure it’s remembered right!

I love you BP.
