The sticker labels keep the funk in man.

They also help the balance point on diner chairs/guitar stands. You take the stickers off - BAM, there goes your balance point.

it's on loan from guitar center

Speaking of the love that dare not speak its name.

:)

Oh I didn't know it was a loaner, I thought you had joined the "BIGALITES"

I have in spirit brother, bigtime. I got a ba5sss on it's way to me, but it's gonna b a week or so before I'm legit. It's a beautiful machine though. With a soul. I need a month alone with it , I've been told, to even scratch the surface of what it do. I've already found several gags I like already though. Today is passive day in the studio. I'm not touching the battery at all, just wood and magnets. It's every bit the monster as it's amped up alterego. Such nuance, and personality. The other basses are plotting against it I fear. Every few songs I play the bongo6 just to keep him wondering. Cause as l.b.j. said, if I've lost bongo, I've lost the war.

1) Unless I'm mistaken, a "GC loan" is actually just taking advantage of their generous return policy.

Nah, Craig has a relationship with his local GC and - for reasons I cannot begin to fathom, because apparently they DO know him - they let him try stuff out.

Bert,

I believe the "loaner' is a 4-string and you're a real man...you play 5-string! ;)

Ducking for cover...

there ya go s.o.m.b!!!!! thats the spirit pal. see, feels good dont it? we're all just goofin around with each other here, and i certainly dont ever want to take myself so seriously that i let a little good natured fun get under my skin. no doubt, i deserve being made fun of for writing off ANY BASS with more than 4 strings and 2 knobs over the last 15 years. of course the fact that A.) ive come to my senses (thanks to BP and crews insane commitment to progress and inspiration through design), and B.) even while creatively stifling myself with the 4 string 2 knob limit, i still managed to play bass on a few albums that have, combined, sold over 20,000,000-30,000,000 copies in the U.S., i still feel pretty good about myself (conservative guess, could be way more. you pretty much stop counting after 20mil). i will say, im most proud of a record that only moved 5,000 units, but i digress.... all that means jack sh!t to me (no offense jack) (no offense sh!t), im only as groovey as im sounding, and i was sounding lame, like everyone else stuck in the vintage rut. thank god and derek, sterling fixed that. his basses have inspired me and taken my creativity to a whole new level. the big al 4 on loan is a monster, as you guys already know. i may actually keep it even after the big al 5 comes in. it is a major player in the ever improving "set of tools" i have been granted access to. but yeah i have a special deal with g.c.pro because im a "pro" (whatever that means) musician, but i dont doubt that anyone here, if they built a really solid relationship with their local g.c., could probably earn the same privilege. so all that to say, lets bury the hatchet. i dont think of myself not one bit more important than the next member here. what i respect is passion, and creativity. i have no doubt that many of you in this forum could in fact play circles around me, i already know sterling can kick my a$$. please dont take my twisted sense of humor as arrogance. if you can accept this.... i think i suck more than you think i suck. we can go one of 2 directions here: 1. make bp and mods have to be politically correct evangelical crusaders, which only makes this forum lame, and grieves their own spirits, because its contrary to everything they ACTUALLY want to be as humans, or..... 2. we can all pull the sticks out of our a$$es, safely assume that "creativity" is the most important forum member (jack please make it impossible for someone to use that word as their username), and moderate ourselves by believing that everyone has something to give, and learn. take all jokes as lighthearted fun, especially when we deserve to be made fun of, and move on to something greater..... INSPIRING EACH OTHER by sharing our knowledge and passion and art, and for the love of god never ever ever pm'ing big poppa!!!! i now surrender the pulpit.

(serious thread hijack potential, but in this case i hope derek doesnt mind)

i put a bit of the "we are the world" portion of my reply in the forum decorum thread, with some additional gag worthy pipe-dreaming. maybe we should use that thread to swap big picture ideas so we dont totally walk all over the poor big al paisley thread.

Well, the truth is that Craig and I have become like an old married couple, only a lot hairier and less likely to have a garden. Wait, we have more fun blabbing than any married people "I" know. Anyway.

I know that CY is a numbah one bad-ass Nashville first call hairy-faced hipster bassist because um I'm pretty sure that's what Sterling said. Words to that effect. And plus Craig has a fan, which is 100 percent more fan than I have, so I give him that.

So this is what we do: we rag on each other. Thus I say that he cannot possibly think he sucks more than I think he sucks. He's said pretty much the same thing to me, which I think was in retrospect more accurate than my statement to him.

So I'm only going to do this one time and then I'll go back to being Craig's nagging (hairy) wife: I heard a track the other night that completely convinced me that CY has more talent in his little finger than I have in my whole body.

God, I feel dirty.

you are sooo right brother. im now guilty of the same thing. sorry, its so easy to do (misinterpret intent), and we all gotta knock it off (points to self), and not only give each other the benefit of the doubt, but assume all the best. were all in this together and need to build a safe place so no-one is afraid to post their work, or what they think is a question that will get laughed at, but will really kick off a wild debate that we all could learn from.
