Hi,
Does anyone know:
1. Is the neck the same dimensions as the SR5?
2. Is it lighter than the SR5?
3. How is the weight balance?
4. How does it compare to the Stingray Classic 5?
--Thanks! :D

At least, questions 1 & 4 are not answered by a google or forum search. There are only few sources of informations and experiences with the Big AL 5 in the WWW.
All MM 5 String basses share the same stringspacing at the bridge, and have got the same nut with. But they feel different, maybe they have different shapes. Sterling 5 and Big Al 5 Necks are identical as I have read in this forum.

The weight of the basses can found at their pages of the Musicman Site
BigAl5s are less heavy than SR5s.

I like the weight balance of my BA4, so the BA5 should be fine, too.

1. No, it's more like the Sterling 5. In fact, I think it's exactly the same although I'm the world's worst at keeping track of such things.

2. I've had SR5s that were lighter/heavier than the BA5sss I have now, so I don't think there's a definitive answer to question numero dos.

3. Excellent. I think the Bongo is possibly THE most ergonomically pleasing instrument in the current line-up, but the BA is right up there. I'd hate to have to choose between the two.

4. Completely different animals, although with that underlying EBMM tone ever present.

Now go get you one. Go on; I'll wait.

I have a Big Al 5SSS and most recently a Sterling 5HS. I can confirm that both necks look, feel, smell and taste the same.

According to the specks the BA's are slightly lighter than the SR's. This is also my experience.

I'm Ben.

This is my post. I am in the process of validating my continued lack of usefulness to my friend Jackito.
