Big Al 5 single H "fund jar."

Mrs.sitonmybass has come up with a plan that I can DEFINETLY live with; albeit a time sensitive plan: a Big Al 5 single H "fund jar" (which is actually a Betty Boop mini lunch box) with a picture I printed of a Big Al 5 single H above it. Whenever possible, monies will be deposited into it.

Since I already wear a "scruff" beard, I'm thinking of standing alongside intersections with a cardboard sign...

Yup it's the legendary Wazoo himself in all his glory, prolly taken when I was working on the stand at the Birmingham NEC (Music live) or maybe it was at London LIMS?

Reminds me of the time I was frantically saving for my First EB guitar - a black Cherry Burst AL with Piezo. I started off putting money into a box, then it escalated into me putting money from odd jobs I did for people and selling cr4p on e bay.
It was suprising how quickly the money added up.

Good luck on your fund - at least you have the blessings of your missus - I didn't tell mine!

Yes it was at LIMS, when I first fell in love with that 25th 5 strings and just like you guys I had to save 13 months to get one, I could have had it quicker but I had to first pay for my new double glazed windows and then for my son's left handed Silo that costed me an arm an a leg.

I know the feeling about saving for a guitar for the offspring...my son's Petrucci was not cheap either. You are a good dad!

Thanks Powman, I am flattered. I am not a good dad, not more than any other father, however my son is a special kid to me which in turns makes me special to be his dad. Despite his disability, Marco is very motivated to learn a lot and to stick in there even when things are hard for him, cerebral palsy gives him difficulties with speed and muscle coordination, but he is learning to play his own way and I am quite pleased.

This is him (at the same show) with the exact same Silo that I've got him for Xmas.

You both should be very proud! Cerebral Palsy does have a huge range of impact (very heterogenous population), but it would be tough to play guitar. The fact that he is learning to play guitar despite his challenges is awesome. So stop being so modest my friend, you are a great Dad in my books!!

Mrs.sitonmybass also came up with the idea that whenever we decide to NOT spend money on something that we were considering purchasing no matter how seemingly insignificant in terms of price, that we should place the "un-spent" amount into the B.A.S.H. (Big Al 5 Single H) fund (fun) jar. In other words, if one us is thinking of buying, say, a soda while we're out but decide not to, than the $1.79 or whatever it is will be placed in the fund container once we arrive at home. This not only will contribute to the fund but it will be enlightening in terms of what can be saved given the right mindset.
She's brilliant, isn't she? Not to mention that she has excellent taste in men.

I work at a non-profit organization that assists people like your son and it's really inspiring to see them do their best in something despite their disability.

That's awesome. Mrs.sitonmybass is cool - I am in my first year of caring for a 16 year old with autism, learning disabilities and 'other challenging behaviours' and let me tell you it is completely awesome. I could probably use her advice!

Also, Mr.sitonmybass, I am copying you in your fund jar idea. I need a Big Al, and a Classic Sterling in powder blue, I must must must must have these things. However these fund jars usually just end up behind the bar about 1/3 of the way through.
