I just saw a post this morning on TB that EBMM will be discontinuing the Big Al and Reflex basses effective October 31, 2015. It was posted by an EBMM dealer, Rocket Music in Blacksburg, VA, so seems legit. Also losing some color/pickguard/neck options on certain basses, which is no surprise, but I'm shocked about the Big Al. I owned a single H model, which I recently sold after acquiring an SSS, and they're GREAT basses.

Get one while you can, people.

That would be a shame, but if true, I suppose both did not make the selling targets.
Also the intruduction of the game-changer might have something to do with it.

Frankly I expected this news would cause more of a stir, at least here on the forum. I guess the lack of response underlines the business reasons for the decision. I'm sure they're just not selling enough to justify keeping these models available, but there's nothing else on the market that compares to the Big Al. Plus, to my knowledge it's the only EBMM offering with a passive option. I'm very glad to have mine.

I was holding comment until something official was said, but it never came.

I didn't find the reflex body shape comfortable when I owned one (as the 25th Anniversary model), but I always planned on buying another 5H Big Al when finances permitted. I'll be sad to see them go since they are some of the few unique offerings available from a major manufacturer.

Love my Big Al 5 SSS and just placed an order for a 5H. My only regret is not ordering one in Sterling Silver while they still made them.

Wait a bit. There will be lots of arms and legs to buy on "sell_your_limbs_for_your_bass_of_your_dreams.com".

Where do I get the money for the order? I want a Big Al 5 SSS, and I want a Reflex 5 HSS!

Let's see how I can make this dream come true - in only two month....

It is true. They are still available to order for a couple months though.

Sad about the Al and Reflex, great basses that nobody buys (but people like me). I must be among the 5% of players that like unique instruments and colors. It's one reason I have gone to all-custom in my lineup, and I'm afraid that also means I no longer play EBMM.

The big al and reflex are great basses, but for some reason didn't sell. maybe it was the body shape, or the name, or something else. Who knows.

Maybe you'll see things like three single coils appearing on stingrays in the future... who knows.

Had a Dargie 2 BA SSS. Loved the controls but the Sterling sized neck width didn't do it for me.

Just placed my order for one of the last Big Al's... 4SSS tangerine pearl, maple, matching HS. Figured I'd better get while the gettin's good. I wonder if these will go up in value after they're discontinued?

Hard to say. I mean, the obvious reason for dropping the line is that they're not selling enough, though the Big Al certainly has a loyal following. Unavailability could raise demand, at least briefly, but I wouldn't count on it. I suspect they'll still turn up for sale here and there, but I think your decision to order now is a good one to make sure you get what you want.

I'm selling a Big Al in that exact configuration.
