The reason I ask, is I remember seeing that the HS basses actually had a dummy coil hidden underneath the pick guard. Does that mean there are "3" hidden dummy pickups?

The "single coil" pickups in the Big Al are basically stacked single coils IIRC, basically the pickups are deeper than you think they are as they are connected to a noise cancelling dummy coil.
