Some folks don't know about the EBMM and Big Al history (I was one of them a while back) so, with the HH Al's coming out (and currently in the limelight) I thought that it would be cool to share some classic vids of the man!

All the best,
Slav

Thanks for posting those vids Slav!

Guys don't get me wrong: I love the new HH AL and I'm sure getting one but isn't it a pity that the SSS and MM90s AL don't/didn't quite get the attention they deserve...? Everyone who's on the fence for a HH AL should give the "originals" a chance as well...you won't be disappointed!
They're such amazing instruments and far more than a "country" guitar!

ditto the AL MM90 is my main giging axe (with my Axis SS RW neck) and I don't play country at all. Sparkling clean tone.

The sound on the first video is very "Knopfler" great great great guitar

I've been trying to find an AL I can check out for some time.

Anyone in the Cincinnati, Ohio area got an AL they're willing to let me dink around with for a while?

So Al was playing that guitar in '88 and the production model came out in '93.

I'll have to trawl thro BP's blogs -cos I gotta find out when he started playing that Axis (- the forerunner of the AL)

My gut reaction is that it was a Christmas party circa 1986 when Dudley presented BP with the prototype "Axis" and Al picked it up, played it, loved it and never had to give it back. - That's the general story but I'm not certain of the specific dates.

He had also been playing a Silhouette for a while and there are some promo photos of him with the Silo (believe its a red one with a black guard)
