Nope, that's a standard EBMM website photo of a Stingray 5. I just duplicated the pickup and resized it a bit.

The 2 HH SR5 was on my wish list to temporarily cure my addiction to EB basses.....Looks like some wheeling and dealing with GC is on the horizon.

I don't think you'll see much second guessing of EB for these offerings -- just a lot of bass players second guessing whether one of the new models might be preferable to what they have now. I'm already wondering how the HH Stingray will compare to the HH Bongo, and I don't even have my Bongo yet (though it should be here this week).

Argh. I guess it's a nice problem to have though -- more choices make for tough decisions, but the mind-boggling assortment of EB models/pickup configs/color combos SHOULD be enough to make anybody happy. I know there will still be grumbling, but this announcement should shut a lot of people up, in a good way.

........................................... great, just great, now that I have my Dynamic Duo fretted and fretless Bongo 5s I'm gonna have to get a matched pair of dual H SR5s!
only one last question though BP, will the dual H SR5s still have the option of white p/u's?
wow, a natural dualH SR5 with Tort Gaurd, white p/u's, rosewood board..... my wife's gonna have a hard time competing for attention!


just kidding, it's much easier to be distracted by her, a pair of humbuckers are great but there are better pairs to be ooggled

Can you imagine how these basses are going to SELL?

Too many times I've heard "single pickup basses are one-trick ponies" and of course I ask if Tony Levin or Pino Palladino sound different from, say, Flea back in his Stingray days....but a lot of those people (short-sighted though they may be) who wanted Stingrays but thought they needed the tonal options of dual pickups?

ya, and I can't wait to see/hear this new neck humbucker! I know that I've really been digging my neck H on my Bongo because of the way it gets a P-Bass on 'roids sound as well as the fact that the SR5 H already has a coil tap so.... maybe the new neck H will be tapable as well?? I know to some of you this seems silly but it really is a great feature on the SR5 and Sterling p/u's .
I'm serious though, I've gotta get me some cash and get down to Indy for NAMM!!

She said something like you are not a bad bass player but you save your pennies if you want one. LOL

I'm certainly excited by the new pickup options. I can only imagine the number of new pictures they'll have to take for the new website.

I really want to see what these new Stingrays look like and then I want to hear one. I feel that in order to be distinct, the Stingray sound needs to be preserved in the two pickup models. In other words, when soloed, the humbucker closest to the bridge still needs to have that SR sound. If the sound is closer to a generic HH or SH sound, it will make the Bongos redundant.
