I would love to hear and play this bass. It looks pretty cool and I agree, I love to see prototype models.

I really like the color, sort of like a neon Burgundy Mist. The pickups look very interesting, are those simply Stingray coils or were they custom wound for that prototype? The body is different to my eye than the Sterling, more like a guitar like the Silhouette or something.

This was simply posted to demonstrate how EMBB basses go through an evolution of design before the finished article is settled upon.

What is BP's take on the sound? Is that the reason it didn't hit production? So many questions. I would like to hear that bass for sure.

The single coils are alnico (i think), and they look identical to the Bongo's single coils.

reminds me of my old PRS bass...

I got it cheap from the music store where I used to work - the old 3-pickup model (with the "zero pickup" mounted flush in the back! And it was almost this exact same colour, too - a shifty magenta-with-blue-sparkles deal. Perfect for Prince, but not for me, but a great bass nonetheless.

Actually, if they straightened the pickups out, I'd buy this if it was from EBMM!

...identical you say...hmmm...... so could such a config find it's way into a Bongo???
I know that the 'bucker has been the core of the EBMM bass but I do think there is a place inn bassdom for an "Albert Lee" bass
