Right now I'm leaning towards stealth black, which I never thought I'd like until I saw the NAMM photos.

Can someone point me in the direction of those photos please?

Excuse a guy from the Dark side (guitars) coming over, but my hunch is the sparkle issue never died because the reasons given (on the guitar boards at least) never mentioned poor sales.

Some of us may have figured it out, and the rest certainly couldn't fault employees for choosing not to divulge that. If I were an employee at EB, I'd be wondering if disclosing that would lead to my termination.

Hence the other reasons given that never quite added up.

Poor sales, on the other hand, totally adds up.

And I just wanna say, from a business standpoint, I'm really looking forward to your posts Big Poppa. I haven't been this excited since...yesterday actually. when my Albert Lee (ebmm#7) came.

PS I love, love, love my BLUE DAWN Luke!

And like, like, like my BLACK SPARKLE Steve Morse

There are a couple of threads from a few weeks ago that have NAMM in the title and a whole bunch of photos of the stealth Bongo and various buttercream basses. Here's one:

Thanks for the insight Big Poppa. I work for an Acura car dealership and I understand that it is just amazing that your company offers so many options for each model. I also understand that discontinuing colors is a fact of life. Just look at the auto industry and see not only the limited amount of colors in each line but also the colors that are no longer used. Black is probably the biggest seller for us as I'm sure it is for you. I guess I'm the odd man out here since I've never wanted to own a "sparkle" finish or a green bass. Don't get me wrong, I think the "sparkle" finishes are great to look at but I would never take one on stage with me hence I wouldn't buy one. Just not my style.

Also, thanks again for joining the masses and shedding some light on the reasons behind some of your companies decisions. I'm sure that it will put some issues to bed.

Now Naturals are a different story...my little local shop here in Richmond VA can not keep natural Stingray's or Stingray 5's in Stock. We have two on the way and I have dibs on one of them before it even gets here. I'll never forget the first time I saw a Stingray it was a Natural and in the hands of Mr. Louis Johnson on his video tape. I was 15 and it changed my life. Then the PBS Show Rock School came out and the fella playing also had a Natural Stingray. I was in love and it has lasted for 20 years :p

From where I sit over 34,000 choices and you guys are still are not satisfied.

I am. Very satisfied actually.

I love my Honey Burst SR5 and will never part with it.

I have to say you offer more colors/options than most.

Has anyone seen Fender's line? Four or five color options for a MIA Jazz!!

Sometimes the little people lose sight of the big picture when it comes to "what I want" vs. what's best for a given company. Given the quality of the EBMM lines, what is there to complain about?? ...of course I've been saying that!

Honeyburst and Trans Gold run a really close second to Natural in my book.

Thanks for checking in Big Poppa! Please don't be a stranger.

One of the things I like most about Music Man Instruments is that you cycle through the list of available colors every couple of years. It keeps everything fresh and unique like my Copperhead Bronze for example. I have a friend and fellow bass player that bought a silver(don't remember the exact name of the color) stingray and loved it so much that he tried to order a matching SR5 but the color was already discontinued! He still ended up getting an SR5 anyway (different color), but we were both impressed that Music Man keeps their selection of colors so fresh. It is very exciting and never boring. Keep up the good work! :)

BP took several paragraphs to explain what could be stated in one sentence - Sparkle finishes are no longer available because most people think they suck ass.

Jon, you can close this thread now :D
