How about a “magnetized” version of the metal cover for the battery compartment? It gives you the old school look, new school innovation and no screwdriver necessary.


How about a mini slat compartment for the battery cover? Kinda like the roll top librarian desks, but on a much smaller scale? To open you just slide the top open and it rolls around the bottom of the battery pack. Maybe a hard wood like black locust could be used.

ESP uses a flip cover that works well. I'm not suggesting EB change anything (I love the chrome cover) just showing that there are plenty of good options out there.
