Hi all!
and happy to be here again :)

Im still searching for a Pre-EB stingray different from the natural one I already have without selling one of my kidneys.. :p
thanks to Rod's advises I close the dealings regarding thered cutlass I with the late preamp switch modified bass.

However, I got in touch with another guy which is selling this very nice stingray from 77, as you can notice, it has white finish (which he claims to be original) and this very nice Birds eye neck..

So the first question is "Does the bird eye neck was already available?"

The second question would be, which would be the correct Case for such a bass? it doesnt come with the case and, also on my natural 77 I miss the original case and Im searching for it on the bay...
On the Bay I found this ad, but I think that the plastic hard case came on the early 80s...and myabe the 70s MusicMan cases looked like the G&G fender ones but without F logo ?

Vintage 1976 1978 Music Man MusicMan Stingray Bass Case RARE | eBay

Any advise and help is much appreciated...

I wish you All a very great week end..
bye bye :)

Some did have figured necks but was luck of the draw as to what you got.

It's odd that I can't see a screw hole for the string retainer which should be on the D&G strings. It would be interseting to know the neck and body dates! A seller should be able to give those no probs.

The best way to check if the finish is original is to remove the neck and inspect the shadow left by the paint stick.

The case you're looking at on ebay was in troduced c. late 1979 to early 1980.

Do the strings pass through the body or is it a top-load bridge? I can't really tell from the pic. In the latter case it can't be a 1977 Bass. Top-loads appeared c.1980.

THank you for the really quick and appreciated feedback!

I already asked the owner for additional pics of the preamp and its cavity and of the neck pocket...
Unfortunately I dont have a complete pic of the back..but i suppose is a string thru..as you can see from the following pic ..3 bolt neck with serial number on it..

I agree with the oddity of the string retainer..it had to be there..but it's not ! I didnt noticed before your suggestion..maybe it has been lost and then filled and the quality of the pic dosnt allow to check it..

So, how about the correct case for this one? like a fender G&G without any logo?

thank you in advance

I will keep you posted as soon as I get more pics :)

bye bye and enjoy the week end

:) :)

Here is the pics of the preamp cavity, the owner confirms he, recently, got a 'refresh' of some of the solderings...do you think this will affect the value of the instrument?
