First of all, i was 80% joking in the original post, just venting on my longgg wait for my new bass.

But thats fine, i guess theres always someone to walk into a thread filled with good humor and fun and rub me out.

Its fine guys really, i appreciate the effort and kindness very much.

As for cheezewiz, sorry? I was joking, the fact that some people actually showed interest in helping me out amazed me, but what was i supposed to do, turn down their kindness? I thought itd be a great show of forum unity. I guess i was mistaken.

Guys, relax, he clearly wasn't serious when he asked...Chuck decided on his own to do it and some other people jumped aboard. I thought that was pretty clear.

I wasn't a big fan of the original request but after that no one forced the good people of this forum to pitch in. Chuck who is obviously a great guy(maybe a little drunk at the time), bids on the thing. To my suprise, a handfull of other forum brothers offer to chip in. Part of me can't help but think that's pretty cool of them. On the other hand, Figjam is just waiting on a bass. He isn't dying of some rare disease or a poor kid with no bass at all, so I don't feel too bad for him. I mean the guy has an EBMM Sterling.

I didn't mean to cause any controversy. The generousity shown on this thread is indeed commendable. I've found fellow bass players to be among the most generous people I've ever seen, even those that can't afford to be. As far as "rubbing you out" fig, well, I'd think you'd have to expect that given the "begging" aspects of the post, and the fact you were gonna score points with your GF by giving her the bass later. Of course a "joking" post is understood, but it seems to me it ceased to be a "joke" on your part when you kept reminding everyone on various threads how long was left on the auction and what the bid was at. Nothing against you at all, I just would not have been personally comfortable doing the same thing. Maybe it is a generational difference.

Hey ~ I'm going to derail this thread for a bit...Randy, would you be willing to play bass with TNT at the NAMM show. It's too late for me to arrange to get down there.

OK, fellas, I think we're done here.

Valid points from all which really just highlight what a heady mix the human race can be.

Let's look at where we are:-

Auction ended - Figgy doesn't get a begged bass and no-one will lose sleep over the begging (well I hope not)
Psycho can spend his $'s on something/one else
Figgy has bass to play (Sterling)
Figgy gets his new bass
Figgy's chick will dish out 1000's of scout points if the Sterling comes her way

Everyone's a winner

Let's be friends huh?

Now, ya'll get back to watching that lame-ass game you call football........:D :D

I pitched in because I was touched by Sir Psycho Sexy's generosity and the fact that folks were coming together to get something done for someone they only know via a forum. It says something about the people here and I wanted to be part of it.

I'm kind of in awe here, and I'm not sure if it's a good feeling. Now I've taken part in several dealies where a forum bought a bass for a member. I even organized one of them. But, I have to say, I've never seen one where the member ASKED the forum to buy him one. It kind of makes me feel like I have dirty underwear on.

Ouch........... Gone one day and all heck breaks loose....
