black bridge and tuners for JP?

I'm getting a friend at a local music shop to get me a price on the bridge by itself. The tuners (as someone else stated) are schaller mini locking and should match up perfectly with the stock holes. My buddy also suggested getting the bridge plated coz it would look more OEM, but the powder coat would be more durable... still working on getting a price for the powder coating...

I like that black look! I have seen some OLP's modded with black hardware, and it really looks the business!

Is a powder coat finish flat or glossy? I'm assuming flat...

It can be flat, semi-gloss or gloss.

In my car club lots of guys have had stuff powder coated. The biggest problem they've run into fairly consistently is that any threaded part that gets powdercoated usually has to have the threads tapped again as they fill in with the powder which then bakes and melts into the threads.

You may want to get yourself a tap and die set that works with all the thread sizes you need in your bridge before disassmbling it and having it done.

Yeah, I was wondering how the screws would work being powder coated. I thought about trying to find replacements that were already black and only coating the top of the bridge post screws to avoid rethreading them.

Seems like powder coating creates a slightly textured finish (correct me if i'm wrong).

If there is a texture involved, plating the bridge in black chrome might be an alternative, but you have to strip the original chrome off the bridge first. This may be more of an undertaking than I anticipated!

I'm hoping this thread stays alive long enough to get some good opinions on how to tackle this project... I have a few months before the guitar arrives. It would be nice to have it ready to install by the time it comes in. Thanks to those who have thrown their 2 cents m way thus far...

Black tuners were added, and the generic Floyd copy was replaced with a black one. I the one I saw was done with 1st VH album type artwork. It was ebay a while back.

Our bridges are proprietary and are not sold unless it is a direct replacement, and the original bridge would have to be returned to us.

Doesn't have to be textured, it can be smooth gloss.

get everything powered coated at the same time, so the finish is consistent. I love that finish

Checked on pricing for powder coating. The place i called has a 20 foot oven, so they have a $50 minimum for small parts. They have coated screw heads before and things like that, so he said it could be done. And he confirmed the option for black w/ flat or gloss finish. Probably have them do the input jack plate and 3-way switch, so the only chrome is the pickup posts. Might have them also do the neck plate and scew heads too, but that means a complete tear down of a brand new JP!

As for the strap buttons and tuners, i can order those in black...
