You should be able to order one through your distributor - strummer may know of the best place to order one from (as he's also in Sweden).

Otherwise, you may be able to order one direct from EB, but I'd suggest you check locally first :)

I just ordered a pick guard from these guys:

Ernie Ball MusicMan Replacement Pickguards

First experience, so I couldn't tell you any more than that, but they look like they know what they're doing. I got same-day response to a question...on a Saturday.
Really nice selection and they produce parts for Ernie Ball.

Hope this helps!

Zippydog, please report back on how good they fit when you get them.

I ordered a couple of pickguards from dazbootman (an eBay shop), and on all of them the neck pocket opening was too small -- so I scratched a neck when mounting the first one. Had do sand those pickguards to proper dimensions.

Ouch!

I'm hoping for a better experience, since these guys seem to supply parts to E.B. - according to their site.

Hm. Didn't see that. Could you be so kind and post the link to where it says the are a supplier of EBMM? Because if it is so, they should be able to provide SR pickguards for the HH and HS configurations as well... ( but they currently don't)

Sure thing.

The link is the "about us" page here:

About Us at WD Music Products

Here's the quote:

WD supplies a large number of guitar manufacturers and luthiers, including: Jackson/Charvel, B.C. Rich, Modulus Guitars, Pedulla, Schecter, Reverend, Melobar, Spector, Fodera, Guild, Ernie Ball/Music Man, ESP, Fernandes, G&L, Hamer, Heritage, and Peavey. In addition to our OEM clientele, WD supplies parts and accessories to Harris-Teller, Davitt & Hanser, Musicorp, and St. Louis Music, as well as over 4000 music stores and repairmen in the US alone.

I wondered about the 5 HH as well. Ask 'em and let us know what they say.

I'd say, they do not supply pickguards to EBMM, since this is their answer:

If supplied with a tracing of the guard we could make it for you in any color material that we have available. Please send tracing to:

I'm really looking forward to reading your report on fit of their pickguards. If they're good quality, I'd like to order some silver paisley and dark mirror.

I got a black/white/black pickguard from WD for my pre-EB Stingray. I am happy in general with both the quality and their prompt shipping. A few holes did not match up exactly, though, so I did a little bit of filing in the inside bevel. No one can tell. It might very well be production MM variances from 1979 that are at fault. The pickup hole was perfect, but I did skim just a little bit from one side of the neck cutout so it would not touch the neck.

I would give the WD pickguard a 9 out of 10. Not Pickguardian-level quality, but good enough. I plan to buy another in, oh, a few minutes. Don't really have many options other than EBMM, really.

Oli, where is Switzerland are you located? I just returned to the U.S. from Leysin.

So you had to work on them as well...makes me wonder why it is so difficult to make properly fitting pickguards with todays CNC technology.

I love the new glitter stuff at Pickguardian, but it seems they do not have EBMM shapes at disposal.

Living about 35 km from Zurich, and working in Zurich. Leysin is quite far away in terms of travel time -- and quite remote... have you been skiing?

Not that it helps the OP, but my personal favorite for after-market pickguards that you can't get from the manufacturer is Pickguard Heaven. Got a beautiful Black Pearl guard for my SUB5 and it fits perfectly! :)

I did not have to do very much filing and cutting. I think the problem is because the fretless is an older Stingray that was made in an era of slightly less-exact tolerances. The same pickguard fit a newer bass perfectly.

I ordered a white pearl pickguard for my 30th Anniversary Stingray from WD yesterday. We'll see if it fits any better.

Leysin isn't very far from Zürich. The SBB takes only a few hours. Well, five or six...

USPS Mail First-Class Mail International. Worked fine for all I've received from various vendors in the US.

Yeah I know, Im just worried about packaging something that thin for such a long haul. It would probably arrive to him in pieces. The points of the PG that go around the neck pocket seem pretty brittle on SR5 PG's in particular. (of course there not once installed on a bass) That and I'm sure shipping isn't cheap. By the time he sent me the shipping cash, with the exchange rate and Im not sure but Im there's probably a customs fee as well, he'd be better off getting a new one from a dealer.

Well, EBMM does not offer clear or mirror or paisley or vomit green, and all those other nice colours available from third party suppliers.
