I myself was on the fence with the Blackstar amps a little while ago and Decreed One answered me with a PERFECT review of an HT club 40. I ordered one without ever even hearing it first  and I must say. . . . I LOVE it!!!!! Also, considering how much gain this thing has on tap, it's VERY VERY quiet. I practiced with it a few times, and last night I got to gig with it :D. A couple of the other guitarists that were there were commenting on how nice it sounded!! It really is a great amp, let us know how you like yours.

Here it is - my HT-60 :)
Before I bought it I played HT-40 and I thought it'll be silent enough to use it at home. The HT-60 is much louder than his smaller brother :)
The clean channel is brilliant, I love it. The OD is cool too, but I'll need to spend more time with it to create my sound :)

Oh, proof: ;)

i play through an HT-1R for home use and even band practice mic'd up. The 8 inch speaker kinda makes it sound tiny-ish but playing through a 1X12 or even just micing it up makes it sound massive!

Im planning to gig with it.

Paul,

The HT-40 is fine for home, stage, recording, you name it. Master volume lets you dial in great tones at any volume. It is almost impossible to dial in a bad tone at any level, on either channel. Great sounding amp, you'll love it.

I think HT-40 will be ok. HT-60 is a bit loud, but You can always use emulated output and play with headphones.

I have the ht20 combo. I didn't quite like the sound out of the box. BS forumites were swearing by the WGS V30. So I swapped too, big difference and very happy. I got even more happier when I added a 1*12 greenback to compliment the whole package!! Matched with the Axis I get great sounds.

BTW, for home use 20watts is more than enough to be heard well and truly up the street so I am not sure if for home use you will get to appreciate the benefits of the 40 let alone the 60. Perhaps those owners have no neighbors!

I had the original HT-5 combo, I'm lsitening to the HT-5R and I'm almost pissed! But its ok, since I parted with all my gear. That new HT-5R sounds rocking. I mean the biggest upgrade being the 12" speaker, but also, a clean channel that's not so sterile anymore! Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes Paul,

The HT-40 not only sounds great at bedroom levels (by the way that is why the master volume is your neighbors best friend;)), you also have enough clean headroom to play almost any venue. I think the extra $ 100.00 it cost over the HT-20 more than pays for the confidence of knowing you are fully capable to play anywhere plus the Celestion 70/80 speaker the Ht-40 comes with sounds really, really good. Much better than the Rocket 50 that comes stock on the HT-20 IMHO.

40 all tube watts is a beautiful thing. Im my opinion it is the best power stroke to cover all bases.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out for you!

Great to read these reviews guys. I've decided i'm bored with the boogie sound after about 10 years and various incarnations of their amazing amps.

So i'm now selling my boogie MK IV and i'm thinking i'm gonna get a Blackstar HT Stage 60. Just not getting the sound i want from my BFR Luke through my MK IV.

I used to run a MK IV for well over 6 years. Like you, I got bored with Boogies. I think the MK IVs are little overrated, they're great, but they're not the Holy Grail of tone like people made it out to be.
Good luck and let us know how it work out for you with the Blackstar.

There's a great quote from another guitar builder that said something along the lines of "all tone issues can usually be fixed by practicing more" hahaha. I think that guitarists often spend way too much time and money on gear instead of concentrating on practicing...that's just what I think, even though I would love to have all kinds of crazy gear.

That said, the Blackstar amps are definitely great amps for the money.

I love my Blackstar HT 100 head. Been using Marshall's for years and lately with newer models got totally fed up with the shuddy build quality... I have a TCL 100, DSL 60, JCM 900 and SLX 900 and for the pirce of one of these I would always buy two Blackstars from now on.
The real plus for me as a G System user is the real Series FX loop rather than the Marshall pretend series loop.
