Texas Finally!
Nice looking amps, the smaller models are tempting....and for a change it's the Americans who get the horror story prices as they're a UK company!

Not true at all, I had a Blackstar, nice amp, and would have another and may some day, and it was priced very nicely new in the box, and al Blackstar products are quite affordable in the US:)

Well, the Blackstar amps are made in Korea ... Korea is nearer of USA than UK !

I check your youtube channel and found a great song, great playing also :)

I saw Andy last year live in Romania , wasn't a very big fan before, but I was blown away by his live playing and fabulous tone.
I must say in the same they I saw Bret Garsed, Michael Angelo Batio, Greg Howe :D but Andy's tone was fabulous (Bret Garsed's also), having also the fact that they all played on the amps they were giving from the event host (some Marshall )

I was wondering how does your Luke stay in tune after a song like this with "heavy" bendings :D
I have a JP a friend has a Silo, both have tremolo systems and although we are insane about this guitar we both share the opinion that after bendings and playing 2 songs the guitar is out of tune :(
now to be clear for all the forum members I don't want to discredit music man, I love their guitars, it was just a curiosity ..and I know that with floating tremolo bending means going out of tune a bit, one string influencing the tuning of all the others :)

very interesting and looks logical think to do...
but my Q is if that is simple physics why don't companies set up from beginning floating tremolos like that? :)
because in my opinion having this logical aspect about strings tension, I think the manufacturer could easily do this trick or maybe the stock springs have different action - higher for the E A D strings !? right?

I am tempted to give a try but don't want to mess up the setup I have and not being able (I am not good at this stuff) to reverse it to the present moment settings

I would be very interested in EB CS opinion about this :)

Hello Paul

Did you check this thread : http://www.ernieball.com/forums/music-man-guitars/46427-tremolo-setup.html ???
I am sure a good setup can solve your problem of tuning stability.

Well, really it's not difficult. Just measure the original position of the clamps. If you are not happy with your new setup you just have to go back to the original position.
You only need a screwdriver and a tuner to check the amount of bend you apply on the strings.

Shame....you guys deserve some high prices. Just did a quick comparison on the Artisan 15 around 800 UK pounds but 1899dollars at the websites I looked at.......maybe not true on the whole range.

I have to say it...
my musicman Luke is solid when it comes to tuning stability, I used DR tite-fit strings, as I like something to 'fight against' when I'm bending or doing vibrato, I guess the tighter tension may contribute to the tuning stability a little but even with cheap fender strings it stays in tune better than my Ibanez RG565.

If you're having tuning problems with a musicman it seems logical to me that it is either the strings you're using, or perhaps the neck stability is affected by the environment you're playing in... all the musicman guitars that I have played have been amazing for tuning stability, straight out of the box! :)

Agree i am using a 100 watt head and particularly like the power pot which allows lower volumes with lots of valve sustain
Out of interest as I have been asking the forum re Luke setup--whats you're setup ie string gauge, action, trem position etc?

many thanks

Pete

That's a good question, I'm using tite-fit 9 - 42's, they are a little tighter than 9's but lighter than 10's, which means sustain is much nicer and the tone is kind of chunkier. My action is extremely low, .35 at its highest position, I have a wonderful guitar tech called Ian Randell, there are a few forumites here who use him to set up their guitars, and they will back me up on how he is a genius! the trem position is slightly forward, I can bend the bar back and raise a note up a tone.

Ian Randell is an amazing tech, and a seriously good player and teacher. He can make any guitar play amazing. He's got my Sport at the moment for a refret....can't wait to get it back!!

Just played a 25th through an ht-5. Both the guitar and amp are amazing...everyone at the GC was stopping by to ask about the guitar hehehe. Of course I had to go through all the combinations and explain the brilliance of it. But seriously the ht-5 is killer!!! These guys at Blackstar got it right. I'm getting one for my apartment and with a few pedals and my 3 balls This will be a perfect home set up. I will do some demos myself when this happens ...nowhere near Mr. Baugh's insane talent though.

I'm sure you'll do a mind blowing demo and I'll have to hide in the corner somewhere

thanks Mike for the answer re tunning stability

I have the HT 5 stack and for home practice/recording is just killer in my opinion.
I also used it at some rehearsals with the band with the 2 cabs 10'' each, and also with a 4 X 12 cab.
it's great for band practice too.
for sure can be very loud , depending on cabs you use :p
I live in a building with 2 floors and I only have neighbors at the second floor (I live at first floor) but when practicing I can't have the vol level more than 8.30 , because is too loud . at 9.00 is just too much, an my room is not small - 25 m² .
