Hi guys,

I finally gave in and purchased a Luke...

Bought it this weekend from Musician Friend...It's a Luke Blue model and it's being shipped as I am writing this email!

Here's the catch though...

Bought it as a "blem"/scratch and dent guitar but it still has the warranty from the manufacturer and store...

Since guitar cannot be returned after 45 days and that musician friend can refuse to accept returns in case the instrument is in bad condition I guess I made a good bet.

Will post pics soon...You guys will be the judge!

Is this your first Ball? The Luke's are great. They're actually my favorite even though I don't own one yet. Two JP's here. You'll love the neck on the Luke and Luke Blue is very classy.

I'll bet that it's in great shape. You are going to love the guitar. The color is magic. It changes all the time.

Wow I never thought to look for blemished balls on MF. There are alot listed. How do you determine what colours/features are available on their blemished listings?

I actually fell in love with the Luke when it first came out wwwwwway back in the early 90's...

I gave it a try last xmas when I just wanted to try an amp at GC...

Tried the Luke through a Mesa Express 5:25 and fell in love with both.

I'm glad I got the Luke (hopefully the blem/scratch will be minor) and cant wait to get the mesa...

They have Benj, Albert Lee and Morse available...They sometimes mention in ( ) the model that is available. They also sometimes mention the kind of blem/dent it has (you can see it written in red for a Fender Eric Johnson signature strat)

Oh and icing on the cake...they have great financing offers!

I like to look at a blem as it's already broken in. I have friends here at work that christian their new cars with a little scratch somewhere not very obvious so when they get their first real ding, the pain isn't so bad. Hahahahahahahahahahaha

Congrats man the Luke is the stones. :)

Received the guitar Friday but opened the box a few hours ago...and I still can't find a blem or a scratch on the guitar!!!!

The plastic film is still on the plastic cover on the back...back where I cant see any belt buckle mark...

The case is mint and all the accessories are there except key to set the neck...but i guess i can find one at home depot.

Will post the pics soon!!!!!

Congrats on your Luke, man.

Do you mean a key to adjust the truss rod? If so, there is no key required. You can use a small screw driver or allen wrench. You don't even need to loosen then strings.

...

Can you see pics of the "blemishes" before purchasing?

You cannot see the pics of the blems...I emailed customer service and they just gave me the same speech they have on their website:

"Items noted as Scratch 'N' Dent or Blemished are primarily customer returns that may have some cosmetic flaws such as scratches or nicks and may show some usage. If you can live with a minor blemish or worn packaging, you'll save some serious bucks! Because of the random nature of flaws, we are unable to provide specific details about those blemishes. All Scratch 'N' Dent and Blemished products are guaranteed to work perfectly and include the full manufacturer's warranty and our 100% Satisfaction Guarantee. Take a full 45 days from shipment to check out the product before deciding to keep it."

On some other guitars though, they would put notes in red giving description of the blem. There was an Eric Johnson signature strat that had some scratches on the pick guard...

BUT BACK TO THE LUKE...

My purchase was totally gut-driven (i had been looking for a deal on a Black Luke for a while) but a few elements comforted me in the buying process:

-Return policy has a 45-day limit...Worse comes to worst the guitar only had been played for 45 days: I was purchasing a "not-so-used" one.

-Musician friend can actually refuse to accept a returned item! This was the guarantee that I wasnt buying a lemon.

-Add No payment 'til 2009 + full manufacturer warranty + 45 day return if im not happy with the purchase...

Basically I couldnt go wrong with this!

The guitar looks MINT - no scratch whatsoever...not even on the case!!!

Me=happy camper (waiting for a Silo to show up on that site though!)

Now I just need to find a good amp for it!!!!!
