On the inside cover of AL's new album is this picture of him holding a blue quilt BFR AL. Is this a one off or will it be an option one day I wonder ? ... I can feel a whole new case of GAS coming on again . I apologise for pic quality

Very cool lookin' AL. But that's no BFR. No BFR inlay at the 12th fret.:)

Neither has AL's regular Pinkburst that he now uses, but I believe that it is still a BFR. At least thats what he told me last time I saw him. It has the mahogany toneblock. I guess because it's his own guitar, to not have the inlay makes it a little more unique.

Interesting. Well if the man himself says it's a BFR, it must be a BFR. I'm wondering if that one and the pinkburst were made before the BFR's "officially" became a reality. They might have been testing out the specs with those models.

I assumed it wasn't a BFR because there was no inlay at the 12th Fret. I'm sure all of the BFR's that I've seen John Petrucci use have had the inlay.

You may well be right, it was February lasy year I saw him and asked the question, long before the official BFR AL was released. I guess he probably had an original 'prototype' for his own use. When I asked him if it was a BFR, he said it was and that it had the mahogany tone block. I'm sure one of the Guys and Gals at EBMM could enlighten us.

Correct. Dargin showed us a blue BFR AL prototype a long time ago. I assumed it went to Albert. Apparently, Albert got one.

That looks awesome. I'll take with with MM90's and the new RW neck option :)

THAT would be a killer guitar. The Blue would look great with the Rosewood neck, the MM90's would smoke (white covers?), and maybe even a piezo option.
