Blue Dawn, huh? Cool! That's my all time favorite discontinued EBMM finish. I came across a used one recently (SR4 maybe, but it's gone now) and gave it some serious thought even though it's not what I would have bought given the choice of any EBMM bass.

I knew 2007 would be a tough year on the wallet... ;)

Anybody know what the headstock will look like for the Bongo? Prolly not matching I'd guess, but...?

adouglas, I think dargie's bongo IS blue dawn and it IS a sparkle. BD is just kind of a more subtle sparkle, like black or white sparkle. Theres a link in the craigslist sticky for a BD sterling that you cant really even see the sparkles too, but trust me, they are there.

I'll have to take your word for it. I see no sparkles, or at least nothing remotely like the pics farther up the thread.

And there's the answer. Thanks BP. I am really stoked about this. Will the Blue Dawn LE Bongo be available without a pickguard? I think that finish looks so great it'd be a shame to cover any of it up.

But Dargin's avatar Bongo has no sparkles.

So either Dargin's avatar Bongo isn't Blue Dawn, or Blue Dawn is not a sparkle finish.
BP already set the record straight but I was going to say that only some of the Blue Dawn's were sparkley and that is what made them rare.

This is a huge running joke on the guitar side.

I just saw the other thread on pickguard choices for the 2007 LE. Never mind. :D

I think Blue Dawn without the sparkle would look stunning as well. When it's a little more difficult to see the sparkle.....like in this photo. The blues absolutely POP out at you.

The photo of Dargin's bass was not taken with straight-on flash photography.

The other photo was.

I believe that's the big difference, having had a few of the more subtle sparkle finishes myself.

Speaking of photos--Is there any chance of some quality Bovinehost style pics of Dave LaRue's Mahongo before it gets boxed up and shipped off? :D

Whoo-hoo, BLUE DAWN!!! I LOVE blue dawn, and seeing as I just returned from my "getting engaged" long-weekend away, 2007 will be the year of the wedding present bass! The "fiancee" (ha-ha, that sounds funny) knows there are a few special things planned bass-wise for 2007, so the timing couldn't be better. Cheers BP, you rock!

Congrats! I speak from recent experience--it takes a couple of months to get used to saying "fiancee."
