I'd like to find the bastard that typed that and punch him/her right in the throat.

What a bunch of effin' crooks. I wouldn't mind having a few words with them face to hand gun.

This might be my favorite line: "Remember: Since eBay acts as a third party in this transaction our policy does not permit direct contact with the seller. Do not click the "Ask Seller A Question" link on the item page."

I sure wish there was a way to find out who sent these e-mails.

Guys, I dont know how it works, but be VERY wary about e-bay.
I did receive a few of those notices, couple of days after being out-bid on a
music man bass. Sounds really, really fishy... sounds like there is some crook out there.
Obviously, there WAS only one of this Bongo here, we all know that, and it was sold. So what is this?

It is clearly an effort to steal money from people. That's why Brad posted it, to warn people off.

I'm telling you, if you don't know what you're doing on this here internet thingy, it can get weird very quickly.

That sucks, I got this exact email a little over a month ago when I bid on a lefty Stingray. My bid was cancelled and then I received that message a couple of days later.

Yup, all that badness out there is exactly why I posted it. A guy I know in England was outbid on a Stingray I sold recently and got a bogus 2nd offer. I immediately went in and deleted the pics I had for the auction so people could tell I wasn't trying to sell it. I also emailed all of the bidders so they wouldn't fall for it.

LOL, Jack! I haven't seen you post the "punching in the throat" thing for years! I figured Jeremy had domesticated you or something...

Same kind of thing happened when a mate was selling his car.. bastards ripped off photo and specs and text. This is a little worse because it is a charity auction... it stupifies me how people can reduce themselves to such scumbaggery.

I'm not a huge eBayer, but I had a bit of a scare yesterday after getting caught up in a pile of crap with which I wasn't familiar. I was selling a fairly high-dollar instrument & several people had bid. The reserve was met, too. I got a message from somebody asking if the instrument was the same one as listed somewhere else. Like a complete moron, I clicked on the link & the page appeared to be an eBay page. It prompted me for my ID & password, and like an even bigger complete moron, I fell for it.

Well, not long after that, I got a message from a bidder asking why his/her bid was canceled. Huh??? I looked at my auction & all bids were canceled! This was with 4 hours left in the auction. I quickly figured out what had happened & changed my eBay password. I notified all the bidders what was going on, apologized, and asked them to re-bid. The instrument finally did sell, and the worthless piece of schzidt who caused all of this fortunately didn't do any additional harm.

No good idiots!!

I hate Ebay. I don't even bother browsing the bass section anymore. Too many scams.

The only Second Chance Offers from ebay that are legit are ones that come through the ebay message system (ie. you can read and reply to them on your "My Ebay" page)
