You could also just get used to flats and they will last through most carreers. No need to boil or change.

Remember that your tone starts with your strings. Dead String = Dead Tone. But then again, what do I know? Just an opinion. It is very interesting that you guys all use flats or dead strings. Rounds sell at least 20x's better than flats for all the string companies. BTW I use both rounds and flats.

The same thing with sparkle finishes. The majority of the people love them on this forum, but dealers couldn't GIVE them away when they were an option.

We are all about our own sound we find in our own heads. Flats do it for me and I have yet to hear a set go dead. I would gladly change the flats when they lose my sound.

My SR 5 has all the growl and treble it needs with the TI Flats for my style of playing.

No, I am not a famous bass player or even one often hired. I am just playing for fun and what that has to offer.

This forum is also fun with the varied opinions on every subject related to bass playing.
