eitherway wont give much spacing to slap :)

Well I don't know how much room you require, but the single pickup Bongo would give me plenty of room :) I think there is a big difference between either of the two pickup Bongos and the single pickup model with respect to space for slapping -- IMHO.

melv .. have you played both of them?

what MM basses do you have now?

a couple suggestions from me ..

if (you've never own an MM bass) .. get the Bongo
elseif (you've already own a stingray) .. get the Bongo
elseif (you're a collector) .. get the Ray - since its a discontinued finish ..
elseif (you've the funds) .. as other said .. get both ..
else .. dont get anything .. :D

I already own a SUB 5, by getting a 4 string i find it easier to slap ie. bigger string spacing and no 5th string (also you get another MM bass :D ) Whatever happens ill be getting a Bongo 5 next year, just dunno wot one to get now. I havnt played the bongo as alot of shops dont let u round here. When i get close to the money i need then ill shout at them till they let me play :p

Oh and no i dont earn enough to get both, one 4string is enough for me atm, im only 16

I haven't played a bongo, so I simply presumed a singel humbucker would leavy you more space to slap, but hey, never played it (never seen one in Belgium either), so of course I could have been wrong.

If surely want a 5 string Bongo next year, why not buy it now instead of a 4-string? My next bass is also going to be a 5 string, so that's what I'm going to buy, even though I'd like to have a 4-string Stingray 3EQ right now:)

I'm not entirely sure what your hieroglyphics are supposed to mean, but why wouldn't there be more than enough room to slap on a single humbucker Bongo?

There isn't a neck pickup to get in the way at all.

I have no problem slapping on both of my two pickup Bongos, but if you can't even slap on a single H Bongo, then you simply can't slap, period...

Had a Jazz bass for years. Then got a Bongo 4HH. The got a SR 4 (burnt apple - used). I got the SR4 cause it was a discontinued color and I always wanted to have a SR4.

I spent a week with each one through the same amp fine tuning the tone and working the feel.

This is my result:
Bongo is top dog!
Stingray is a growling pit bull.
Jazz is a barking Dobey.

The Bongo feel is just great. The SR is a classy instrument. The Jazz felt sentimental and polite.

Not sure this will help, but that is MHO. :)

ive played a dual H bongo before and i had no problems slapping at all. actually, what i think you all mean is the pluck part. but thats assumed. anyway. i played one and i had no problem. obviously the space to get your finger in is a bit small but i had no problems. and i have fairly large hands. i think with a small technique adjustment anyone could slap on the bongo quite competently, or maybe bongos just like me.

Slappin' The 2 Pickup Bongo

I've lowered the neck pickup to allow for more room for the "modern" (love ya' Bootsy) techniques. I'd buy the Bongo.

Dargin and I both agree with out a doubt that the single H Bongo is highly underrated!
It does it all in our books!! It's worth a shot.

I have to agree. Ive said it before, but Ill say it again. I owned a Dual H Bongo 4 banger, and it was a GREAT sounding bass. Thats what sold me on the Bongos. Now I own a Single H Bongo fiver and actually prefer the tone over the other p/u configs. Its amazingly even across the spectrum, and growls like a mutha. Its also much more versatile than you would think.
