I'm GASING Bad, could someone tell me the differences in the two necks, is the Bongo 5 neck any narrower than the SR5 neck?

My impression is that they feel like they are the same width. But, I'd say the SR5 neck is flatter, whereas the Bongo neck feels more round. The difference would be small though. Sorry, I know that probably doesn't help much, but those are my first impressions. Maybe someone will post the actual measurements.

By these specs, I would believe that they are pretty much just alike. That's what I always felt when I played them. The only difference is the with at the last fret, but that can be accounted for by the 2 extra frets on the Bongo.

I can't say just how the profiles are different on the two necks. I notice a difference. I have tried to figure out just what I thought they were and decided I haven't figured it out yet.
What I know is both are very playable necks. I am going to stick to playing the Bongo5 exclusively until it feels like home then pick the SR5 back up and see what is different.
Not to worry if you like the neck on the SR5 you won't find reason to fault the Bongo5.
Has ever been there someone that took longer to say I don't know that what it just took me?

No wonder a Bongo 5 fit nicely in my hands. Only a 16th of an inch away from my SR5.
Still a SR5 guy though.

Sorry Freddy but I gotta disagree... to me, the BOngo 5 neck has a more 'modern' shallow U feel to the back of the neck, closer to that of an MTD or something where as the SR5 neck still retians some girth in the middle of the neck and is more 'vintage' or rounded U for lack of better terms.
I still wonder what an oil finished Bongo neck would be like though... that I do love about the Rays

According to the measurements that Larry posted, the necks are identical, except the Bongo is 1/16" wider at the last fret.
Radius for both is 11 inches? Wonder how that measurement is taken? Does it reveal the roundness or flatness of the neck?

Actually, the 11" you have yo make yourself.
Standard gauges include 7 1/4, 9 1/2, 10, 12, 14, 15, 16 and 20".

Press it against the neck to get a neck profile reading, and there you are. Put the comb flat on a piece of paper and draw the shape.

I've always felt like the SR necks were a bit thicker than the Bongo necks. I have never played a SR that was love at first pluck like it was with the Bongos. The neck was a big draw for me.
Of course, that doesn't keep me from drooling over the dual pickup SRs.
