Bongo 5 case

I did a quick search on this, but I'm slow sometimes and it's late, so I may have missed it.

I bought a Bongo 5 used, no case, but I'd like to get one on a (very tight) budget (used?). I've seen cases on Musicians Friend and GC.com that says it will fit both SR5's and Bongo's. I have an SR5, so I tried the case, and the Bongo doesn't fit. Was there a change in the case size/ design when the Bongo arrived to accomodate both basses or what? When did the change take place, and is there anything I can do to see if a used case will fit? Or do I need to buy new?

PS- I'm loving both the SR5 and Bongo in a band context. Different flavors of the same sound.... mmmm.

Yes, the case size was changed to fit both SR and Bongos.

The newer version case is slightly longer than the old (Bongos are longer bass than SR)
I am not sure the exact ship date of the newer cases. But, I have no doubt that someone on this forum would know.

AFAIK it was only the first year's Bongos that didn't include the case. It was introduced in 2003, so the case change must have happened in 2004.

Save up for the case. At $150 brand spanking new, it's cheap insurance.
