Hi guys,

I just visited official EBMM instruments page and noticed two changes in offical data sheet!

First I noticed that color chart is reduced to only 4 colors? :(

Most interesting is this (copy/paste):

"Tuning Machines:Custom Music Man, lightweight with tapered string posts and ergonomic design"

In the picture gallery are still pictures of blue pearl Bongo 5 HH with standard "elephant ears" tuning machines, so I wonder: -are new lightweight ergonomic designed tuning machines already "visible on the horizont"? :)

Hi Keko,

I see more than 4 colour options when I open the page. Have you tried reloading the page?

I think that picture hasn't been updated recently, and wouldn't have the new tuners on it just yet.

I'm watching right now in the next tab Bongo 5 page, ...only 4 colors: black, sterling silver, blue pearl, tangerine pearl.

So what that means: "wouldn't have new tuners on it just yet"?

Does that means that lw tuners are officially announced? :)

I just ordered a new Bongo about 2 weeks ago. Prior to ordering it I had some questions so I called customer service and spoke with AJ. He said there were no new color changes for this year and I believe he told me none were deleted either but he did say that all of the new Bongo's would have the new tuners installed, including mine so it appears the ones being built as fo right now and after will have them. I'm sure the web site has not updated the new pics yet though

On some browers some of the colours don't appear, eg on my iPhone 4S. All the normal colours are still there.

As Jay said, I think all new Bongos get the NEW tuners :)

Exactly, ...now I'm at home using Chromium Browser and it's exactly like You wrote above! (Thank God  ).

It must be something with my strong firewall at work (gov. class 1 multiple server firewall protection)? :(

Never mind, ...I'm looking forward to those lw tuners, ...so my Bongo order could be realized even sooner than I was expected!

Now I'm on the GAS!!! :)

P.S. ...I'd like to hear from A.J. if he maybe read this thread by him self, to confirm that info?

So, ...my final question is:

Can someone from CS confirm information that from now any on order Bongo will be equipped with Music Man Custom Made Light Weight Tuning Machines?

Im going to order a Tangerine Pearl HH Bongo with White Pearl Guard before the year is out.

Definitely.

Glad to hear that! :)

I think I'd go now with something darker, ...maybe (inspired by stu-42) Black with tort guard single H 5 banger? :)

Or, ...Candy Red (black PG), ...or Blue Pearl (black PG)?

Tangerine pearl?, ...well only with black PG for me, or ...I don't know maybe with tort guard?

Mmmm, ...must really take a fine loooong nap, sleep over and think about that tomorrow with clear mind! :p

I will be sure and do that. This was is going to be another sexy beast too. It is a Bongo 4Hp in candy apple red with a abalone pickguard that AJ found still in stock when Music Man was allowing basses to be ordered with abalone. I originally wanted to wait until the 10th Anniversary Bongo next year before ordering or even the Premier dealer stuff later this year depending on what it was going to be but for a while I have been wanting a candy apple red Bongo to go with my BFR roasted neck in the black sugar. I didn't know at the time if Music Man was adding any new colors or deleting any and I was worried that that candy apple red would be deleted before I was able to order one so I pulled the trigger when we did our taxes and got back a little more than we expected. Prior to using Music Man, my main two basses were a black one and a candy apple red one of the same bass. I still have them but have kind of retired them but wanted to have as close to the same setup with my Bongos thus why I ordered this one.

OK, ...what's on stock still got the "old" tuning machines, ...any new on order Bongo model comes with new LW tuners! ;)

Now I just need to decide about pickup configuration and color!

My last "nightmare" is H or HH?

As I already own HH reflex, maybe it's time now for a single H Bongo 5?
I really need one "simple" single H Musicman with small EQ, but still want a modern and mighty sweetspot MM tone!!! ;)

I'm going to visit a friendly band this Thursday, bass player plays Bongo 5 HH 2008. LE, so after that I'll be sure what I really need from a Bongo! (I already tried single H model)

About the color, ...two colors are in my final choice: Candy Red and Blue Pearl (black PG, for both)

What do Ya think guys?

If you need a simple bass, then H Bongo is the ticket.

Be aware that the HH you're going to play does NOT sound like the H bongo. The bridge pickup is farther back. It also has the four-band EQ, so take that into account.

I love my H Bongo... so simple, so tasty, super-light, always gives a great tone.

Mine's candy red and I got it with a black pickguard. Very classy, but if you play on dark stages the bass disappears. So I put a cream pearl pickguard on it and it's stunning.

I bought a single H bongo to try, sweet spot and all, just didn't compare to my HH. I would like to try a single H with piezo and a 4 band though. I would think your reflex would do everything a bongo would do.

ad and five7,

...thanks for Your comments guys, ...well mostly I know all that You wrote above, ...but I'd really wanna go with "sporty" single H Bongo 5 now for a change, ...as my quality "backup" bass, for some gigs when need only one tone option for whole night! Of course, I could always take both basses with me on a gig...etc.
However, ...Bongo and reflex have the same neck shape, radius ...etc., ...except 22/24 frets (RX/Bongo), so the playing versatility will be very similar! ;)

I think I got a Bongo fever these days! :D
