Hi, I just took ownership of a burgundy Bongo 5HS and think it's a great instrument which, in my opinion, has the edge over every other instrument I own. There is however, a slight 'issue': with all controls set at noon and volume wide open there is a ticking noise (~12 times/second) coming from the preamp. It dies away to an almost non-audible level when I roll off the master volume to ~75%.

I checked for interference but it occurs when using my Cafe Walter headphone-amp, my Trace Elliot combo or my amp/cab (which is located in another part of the house). I also switched cables to rule those out, too. One of the batteries was at 6 volts so in the assumption that might be the culprit, I changed them both for fresh ones. But the tick is still there. I had a look in the electronics compartment but with my limited knowledge there was nothing to be found; everything looked factory-fresh.

Anyone got a clue what might be the case? Any help is greatly appreciated. Best regards from The Netherlands!

hello haveblue and welcome to the forums :)

normally the chain of command would be, contact dealer, they contact the distributor which in turn contacts eb

or you could do what most people seem to do anyway:
send a mail to the good people at customer service. contact details in my signature below :)

hth!

MrM

ps.. i had almost the same thing, only it was once pr second. turns out that since i wear my watch on the right hand the movement in the watch was being picked up by the pickup.. i spent quite some time diagnosing that error ;)

Thanks MrMushashi for giving me the "snap-out-of-it" slap in the face I needed to sort this out. I keep my head/cab in the basement, *right above* my 'study'-room where I have a Trace Elliot combo. Luckily, the TE combo has wheels on it, enabling me to easily wheel it into the living quarters. It was interference after all. In the end, rearranging my setup in the room has done the trick and reduced the interference to an acceptable, pretty much inaudible level. All is well now :) Thanks again and hope this topic can help someone experiencing this in the future!
