Unless you play slap style a lot, I don't think you should need one in a live setting. To my ears, the EBMM pickups have a little bit of compression on their own when they are attacked harder (slight squash) but this tends to be true with most active basses.
If you do get a compressor though, I would strongly suggest the EBS MultiComp which is the best compressor unit available in a pedal. It's very clean, transparent and provides compression without altering the tone of your bass. Other than the EBS, I would get a rack compressor preferably a dbx 160.
