I can't get the battery out of one of my battery compartments on my Bongo. It's a Duracell Plus, and while I'm aware of the advice that you should only use normal Duracells, I just can't find them in the UK.

This battery (as usual) felt a little tight going in but it did go in, and I was able to get it in and out fine. Now, a few months after installing it, I can't open the battery compartment. It opens half way, but it feels like the 9V battery is too big for the 9V battery slot.

Has anyone got themselves out of this predicament before? I don't want to force it Chuck Norris style in case I damage the bass or myself. It's a ridiculous problem when you think about it, and I'm surprised EBMM haven't adjusted the compartments on outgoing basses yet. Any advice short of pouring washing up liquid in there??

Hi Bubba Love, exact same thing happened to me. Can't get regular Duracells here in the UK as you said (which are the batteries shipped with the bass), but didn't realise the sizes were different and put a "plus" in my Ray when I first got her. Seemed to go in "relatively" easily, but didn't come out the same way. Ended up removing with pliars (scary). As you said, you definitely want to be careful. I just gripped the battery with the pliars and held the battery compartment FIRMLY to ensure nothing was damaged during removal, and slowly pulled the battery out. From now on I only use Energizers here in the UK, which are actually a little small for my bass, but I put a small piece of folded paper behind the battery after insertion, and the connection seems to be fine and doesn't come loose. Hope this info helps!

Hmmm... How much would shipping be on a bunch of duracell's? I'd be crazy enough to do a one time shot of shipping a bunch of duracell's to you guys to find out. Always fun to ship something internationally. Yes, call me crazy.

Anybody know if there are restrictions on shipping batteries internationally?

PM me if interested.

I'm not a huge fan of these Plastic Battery compartments, I sure wish they'd go back to the old style, It is true, not always new is good and i think this is 1 example.

Gear whores!

I like saying that without worrying that...well, I just enjoy knowing that each and every one of you will understand me, frankly.

And I hope that whatever you want.....you get it.

I like you people.

I've got Duracell ProCells in mine, which you can get in the UK - I can ship you some if necessary.

ProCells huh? Not sure I've seen those. Are they pretty common or do you go somewhere special to purchase? Not that I mind using the Energizers with "shiv" addition, but if there's something that fits "right", then I'm game.
Cheers for the info!

I've had the same problem, opened the box anyway, replaced the battery and.....no sound! 3 days before the gig.
I went to the guitar tech, and the wires from battery compartement to EQ had come loose. He solded them back to the battery compartment, and everythingi s fine now
Lesson: Duracell is evil!

I buy them from the local music shop I do repairs for, not looked for them anywhere else but I see you can get them here pretty cheap.
