Question Bongo body wood?

I was recently studied about Bongo basses some details again at official site (Ernie Ball Music Man Instruments) and noticed something that I thought it was different before! :confused:

It's about body wood on Bongos. Official information is "basswood"!

I thought that Bongo bodies are made of mahogany? :eek: ...and now I'm confused! :eek:

Anyway, what is that basswood exactly, I mean, what kind of wood is that?

OK, but which sort of wood is that basswood, can someone please write it in to the one word, so I can translate it with Google Interpreter! :rolleyes:

By the way, I know what is alder and what is ash...etc., but this basswood :confused: makes me crazy! :eek:

I believe there are three.

One is the Open House Bongo 4HH, made in the same color that wound up on the 30th SR, and which is now owned by a lucky forumite. Had I been paying ANY attention at all it would belong to me. I am an idiot.

The second is a burst finish 4HH made for a CLB auction.

The third was made for Dave LaRue.

It is wood bred for basses to sound awesome

basswood! :)

guenter and djaxup, thanx a lot guys, now I know exactly which wood is Basswood in my language! ;)

It's a beautiful wood and that tree have nice smelling flowers in June (my birth month :p ), so it sounds good too, as far as I have tried one Bongo! :)

So, as potential Bongo buyer, I want to have all informations, that's the way I do things! ;)

By the way, is it possible to order custom made bongo with ash body (I just wonder :eek: )?

Well, I was testing sound difference in the store between Bongo with piezo and Stingray with piezo, so my impression is that piezo works better on Stingrays ash wood instead on Bongos basswood, just that's what is bothering me! (preamp set flat)

Anyway, according Bongo's mighty neodymium pickups, my feeling is that this wonder pups could rocks on any wood how good they are! :)

So, to conclude, if I'm gonna be very insistent, maybe I could order "special" custom made Bongo with ash body and ebony fretboard? :eek:

The last question is: HSp or HHp? :rolleyes: (that I must decide alone)
