OK now I can fire away....

With all due respect Colin...You are a dealer in a foriegn land giving domestic advice suggesting that I am resposible for an idiot that damaged a bass on a sales floor... I suggest that we all read up on what a warranty claim is...."Defects in workmanship and materials" comes to mind.

If any of you are purchasing a shopworn bass beware...there is no warranty claim for somebody abusing an instrument.

actually I wasn't giving advice I was asking a question. It wasn't till later in the thread that I realized that is was shopworn. but I do apologize for any trouble that may have been caused.

Wish I could change the name of this thread to "Bongo bubble re-born". I'm so freakin excited and impatient to get my Stealth 5 (on the way from GC Arlington Heights, IL), I don't know what to do with myself ... well that's not quite true ... I play my 30th. :)

Anyway, thanks again to Dan (slow roasted), who turned me onto the Stealth 5 available for a steal at that particular GC ... $771.27, to be exact. I opted for a case, too, but with case, tax, a set of slinkys & shipping, the damages are still under $950. (I hope we're still under the freedom of price disclosure act, BP!) I have to say, that's a HELLUVA lot better than $1080 (just the bass) for one with a large exposed fault line running around the end of the body (the one at my local GC). Playing that one, though, did infect me - that's why I'm so eager to get this puppy. I feel a case of Bongo fever coming on!

Later,
Robert

I think your really going to like that Bongo, Robert. I played it a couple of months ago and had a real hard time not going home with it. In fact, it's the reason I ordered an 08 LE in the same configuration. Congrats and enjoy.

Thanks BP and Brian.

It's cool that a few forumites got a chance to check this one out & give it the stamp, since I'm buying sight unseen. Of course I wouldn't have any doubts about the design, construction or features of the bass - I'm more so referring to shopwear.

Yeah, I stamped my initials into the top horn with my car keys in hopes of getting them to knock some off the price, but then I realized that it was kinda obvious so I just left.:D

Physical damage to a bass unsold in a retail outlet wouldn't be covered by warranty.

I dunno . . . . when I bought my GC "rescue" bass, it has broken knobs and pots, and I called customer service fully expecting to pay for the parts, but they would not let me . . . .

I can't imaging anyone not liking a Bongo. But that's just me.

Enjoy it Robert. I'm sure you'll love it. It's hard not to. Sounds like you got a great deal.

If it were me, I'd offer the guys at GC $500 for the cracked one and run out for a roll of duct tape and some wood filler. It's nearly impossible to kill a Bongo. Even a large crack would probably just slow it down a bit, but not stop it all together.

It's like I always say, "The Bongo is the Best Damn Bass on the Planet." (No offense to EBMM's other basses).

Ahh Robert, always two steps ahead of me with basses. By the way I really do LOVE that autumn redrise beast and hope to do business with you again. Really, enjoy the bongo and consult me if you ever wanna sell it!

Thanks Frankie & Zak. Zak - it was a total pleasure doing that deal from my end, too. Somehow even though I was parting with a bass I already miss, I got a good feeling from it, knowing you'd love it & then having that confirmed in your response. Enjoy!!
