Bongo Circuit Design Changes '03-'05?

Appologies for starting a new thread but I can't find a definitive answer on this:

On the schematics for the Bongo HS, there's an annotation, "Rev A : Balance Control and Silent Circuitry Corrected 3-21-05." My question is simply this - do the pre-2005 Bongos have a different circuitry or was the drawing just corrected? The next logical question would be "Was there a product improvement to the post 2005 models?"

Anyone? Mr. G? Mr. BP?

UPDATE:

SME 1 is on his way to Vegas.

SME 2 "lives in the sticks without the internet" but could be available on Monday.

I'll hazard a guess that it's just an update of the drawing to make it more accurate, because the Sterling HH and Stingray HH schematics were also updated. The change makes the description more accurate, it doesn't reflect a change in the wiring with those two.

well, I do know that there has been a change with the physical size of the HH / HS circuit boards in the Sterling(and probably the SR and SR5 I'd assume). The newer ones fit around the 5-way switch a whole lot better than the original boards.

A possible explanation - I've heard definitively that the Sterlings were changed/improved over this time period - just don't know about the Bongo.

I know that they have definitely changed the single coil pickup on the Bongos since the first year, or so. I don't know how significant the changes are, or if there was also a change in the circuit board, though.

Yes, I have the answer!

The original Control Function Diagram was drawn based on the early prototypes, which had the balance control opposite. Full clockwise WAS the bridge pickup and full counter-clockwise WAS the neck pickup. On all production Bongos CW is the neck pickup and CCW is the bridge pickup.

The Silent circuit was not shown on the original CFD either, and we added that when making the revision.

These changes happened before any production Bongos were made, but the diagram did not get changed until March '05.

May be a little off-topic, but is it true that the pre-amp on the Bongo had to be toned down? It's powerful enough as it is but I heard somewhere that it used to be more so...

It's true. BP said something to the effect of...the original EQ gave so much tone control that it was too easy to make the Bongo sound bad. So rather than have to deal with a bunch of numb-skulls with no EQ skills saying that the Bongo sounds bad, they simply toned it down.
